  1. How about DOOM II: Episode 2? :D (a la Half-Life)
  2. Ooooh very interesting... Those screenshots grabbed my attention. Will have to give it a go as soon as soon as possible.
  3. I'm enjoying this very much. I especially love the custom sounds..The shotgun is extra punchy, the item pickup sound has a very retro arcade vibe I like, and the teleport sound effect is very cool also, but overall the custom sounds are tasteful and fitting of the theme, imo. Gameplay wise, very nicely paced and satisfying. Wads for the original DOOM are among my favorites. :D
  4. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy this very much. :D
  5. Just started a playthrough yesterday, and although I'm only about halfway through, I just wanted to say you have put together something quite excellent. I love how sleek and not overly detailed your aesthetic choices are. Gameplay wise, I love the snappy, straight to the point approach. That opener really sets the tone, and the pace feels very nice. Like the pressure eases up just enough for you to catch your breath and keep pushing. Very enjoyable. As for the music, what can I say? It's awesome. I love the chugging, djenty sounds. Groovy and not overly aggressive. I appreciate that there's some more electronic/ synth elements throughout as well. Atmospheric, and haunting at times. Reminds me a bit of Meshuggah & Gojira, and I mean that as a high compliment It's right up my alley. Very interested in hearing more of your music. What are some of the inspirations behind your compositions? Anyhow, great work overall. Thanks for all the love and time you put into this. It really shows.
  6. Very ambitious and looks of high quality. I look forward to playing this, but I will hold off until you have a final version. It's a shame this doesn't seem to be getting more engagement at the moment.

The Lost Episodes of Doom, Revisited?

This is the first I'm hearing of BF_THUD!. I went and had a peek. I like vintage DOOM stuff. It's interesting. Definitely gonna have to check that out some time in the future, so thanks for the mention. As for RoC 25th Anniversary Edition, I'm also keeping an eye on that for when it's a final release. I have such an outrageous backlog that I don't wanna get sidetracked, but I'm very excited for that one. Also Realm of Chaos 2: The Revenge of '96! and Perdition's Gate Resurgence are projects I'm following. Just finished a playthrough of the original Perdition's Gate recently. Anyway, as for remasters or remakes I definitely hope The Lost Episodes get more consideration some day.

Thanks for this Megawad mention. Gonna have to give it a try.

The Lost Episodes of Doom, Revisited?

I don't know much about the history of the levels themselves, but I did play through a handful of them and thought they were... lackluster. Dropped them mid playthrough. I only recently heard more about the supposed story attached to the levels, and thought that some inspiration could be drawn from that. Loosely.

The Lost Episodes of Doom, Revisited?

Hm, not quite. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in what I meant. I'm referring to this old thing: https://doomwiki.org/wiki/The_Lost_Episodes_of_Doom Taking those ideas and making something new and fun to play with those ideas. Not necessarily titling it "Lost Episodes," however.
  12. A quick preface; This is gonna be a bit of a ramble so if you lack patience reading long text posts, please free to skip over this topic. What are your thoughts on a concept for a DOOM II Megawad that reimagines some of the ideas behind The Lost Episodes of Doom? I think some untapped potential lies in the concepts of the original, but the creators of The Lost Episodes unfortunately didn't flesh out their vision very well. The art direction could go in a variety of ways, but I'm thinking if the story was divided into episodes just as the original concept intended, each locale could offer something slightly different in terms of atmosphere and combat. I'm leaning more towards progressively ominous looking skies, some tech themes contrasted with each moon’s “personality.” Showcasing the terrains of each moon in some way. Getting the progression to push you outside in one way or another (perhaps a hazardous/ hostile atmosphere to pose an extra dimension of challenge on one of the moons?) A HUGE final battle on the infamous Red Spot, and perhaps a refreshing palate cleanser on Earth? (both in visuals and terrain/ structure) What about you? Tell me what you think. I'd love to hear it. :)

    Scythe

I love this WAD very much. It certainly gets challenging in the later levels just as promised, but Jesus Christ MAP 28 is so cruel. I'm always just a tiny hair away from reaching the exit. I guess I'll never be able to finish this WAD in its entirety and I'm not about t skip the map or cheat to get past it. Kinda demoralizing to get so far and fail so miserably. Oh well.

    The Rebirth

Solid. Worth a play and addition to your personal DOOM archive. Interesting custom monsters. Creative construction and some exciting encounters, especially in the late stages. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend.
  15. Ah yes , I just remembered the other modded game I played without achievements being blocked. It was CoD MW (2009). Anyway, I'm not here with any expectations. I just asked a question and I got the answer. Only reason I mentioned my points of reference is force of habit. When someone says "no this is absolute, no exceptions" and I know otherwise, I feel compelled to say so. Nothing personal. I think you misunderstood my mentioning other games as "if I can do it there, why can't I do it here" but there's no need to talk down to me like I'm some kind of idiot. My references were anecdotal and counter point to the argument that there aren't exceptions. That's all.
