About This File

My first 2 maps for Doom 2. A possible preview of a megawad. Maps in the style of Hell Revealed with, I promise, a lot of detail. My primary purpose was to really make maps that will knock your socks off, make maps that you would want to play more than one time. In the beginning areas of the first map, the detail looks like the mapping of a beginner, but trust me, as you progress, the detail gets better and better with the later areas looking more and more like an expert's work. Some areas really took me some extended time to make and I even got frustrated at times, but I hung in there and I have hopefully made quite a creation. You'll find quite a good mix of tech and hell themes in these maps. I've also supplied plenty of ammo and health in these maps, so hope- fully there won't be any complaints about that. I want to show, with these maps, that I have used other wads for inspiration and that I am not your ordinary beginner. I hate wads with no style to them at all, so if you like playing crappy wads, then look somewhere else because this ain't one of them.

A set of actually four maps by a beginner mapper. The gameplay wasn't that good, because I found myself facing six barons of hell with only 300 bullets left. There are many common mistakes in here - HOMs, misaligned textures, monsters stuck in walls/each other etc. Although this shows a lot of effort by a beginner mapper, and I can actually see some potential in here. Hope you'll improve in the future. 2/5 - Moti

New author mistakes, but shows a lot of promise and is improving fast: #1 is clearly beginner work, too many big monsters and not enough supplies; map crashed partway thru (collasped ceiling bug). #2 is nothing to look at but had fun smash-bang gameplay (and just barely enough ammo). #3 is more refined and requires a lot of strategy to stay alive. (#4 wouldn't run.) All in all a good first effort. ~REZ~

It's not bad, but it's nowhere even near Hell Revealed. You need to improve your mapping skills - the maps still do look rather basic - and fine-tune your fights and so on; HR is about more than just slapping 600 monsters in one level. That being said - still, you're showing promise, so keep it up! But learn from your mistakes and get better instead of thinking you already reached the top. 3/5

A very beginner set of levels. The gameplay was good. The level design could do with alot more improvment. Its ok for a first effort. 2/5 Stars

Frustrating rubbish. The only good part is the description.

Oh noes. "I hate wads with no style to them at all, so if you like playing crappy wads, then look somewhere else because this ain't one of them." Such big words. Making people expect something. Something good. But not that. It really decreases from okay stuff to crap. Textures, HOMs, monster placement, ammo, health powerups, the whole gameplay is FUBAR.

A very meh map from a beginner. I noticed some monsters were stuck in coners and the ammo and health were a bit unbalanced in some areas. Overall I wasn't very impressed with this. But keep on mapping! 2/5.-Candle M

Nice work, but I would recommend you not to reduce the amount of enemies for lower skills, but to add more soul spheres and equipment. I liked maps 23-24 more than maps 25-26, because the big rooms there look too oldschool-like. Next time, try to increase the detail there, fix the missing textures on map 26 and others (try to get help from the community on www.doomworld.com) and make it playable in multiplayer! All in all I would give 3,5/5, but because it is the first work of the author: 4/5!

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.
