Another big, squarish and unluckily tedious map from the Castle of Combat series, this map is for E1M3, sets again a sort of same-y looking mazes, now with longer hallways, hidden ophidians in secret alcoves, a one way crusher that can broke the map run in vanilla (without jumping / crouching enabled) if you take the crusher stop line triggering in the wrong time window. Weird progression and a crucial door doesn't work (at least for me).

In all this mess, there's some cool touches here and there like the lighting works that is still neat (especially in the mine section), the hallway that lights up at your passage is a pretty neat touch and some rooms design are pretty cool, especially the compass sector art in the circular room with the horses doors.

Not bad but nothing impressive, unluckily.

A slight improvement over the quality of castle1.wad (I didn't play castle2 because it's already been reviewed.) The starting actually looks sorta cool, giving you a sense that this map might be better than the previous ones. But, it's only marginally better, with outrageously long hallways as the main annoyance. Combat exists but is still super easy, especially if you use the myriad artifacts in supply. The worst part was getting to the end of a massive hallway and finding out that I needed a green key, which would have been about two minutes of backtracking if I didn't use the turbo cheat. 2/5 would skip

A fun idea, a fun execution, and even more fun gameplay. Wonderful. A must play.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.
