One of my favorite features of steam is seeing how many hours i have spent playing a game, is there a way to see how many hours i have spent playing a doom sourceport (when not using steam) dsda and gzdoom in particular, wether a feature in the sourceport or on my pc :) (i'm not very tech, i just play games) . Note that i'm wondering if i can see it now retrospectively, i have not kept track of it :/

Minutes?

Seconds?

Years?

I'm aware you guys might don't have idea how a forum works because you're young or never saw it before, but next time, please write a better title, because other people with the same question might find quickly this thread with the search function, browsing, or searching on Google.

Nahh ''Hours'' is a common term used for how many hours someone has in a particular game. example: ''how many hours do you have in gta 3? 237 hours, i'm nerding it''

Well sure, but you could be more descriptive in the title of this thread, like "How do I keep track of hours on Doom source ports?" or "Any way to log playtime on Doom? (outside of Steam)".

But yeah, ports like DSDA-Doom and similar ports have some kind of command-line parameter that spits out a text file with all the relevant info like kills, items, secrets, and of course time spent.

  • PrBoom+ and DSDA-Doom: -levelstat
  • Chocolate-Doom/Crispy-Doom/Woof: -statdump
  • Z/GZDoom: just read the save file lol
  • Eternity-Engine/Doom-Retro: none

Doom Launcher, for example, just applies those parameters after checking the "Save Statistics" and tracks it from there
