    What weapons do you dislike seeing in mods?

    I could not agree further on the fire modes thing. Something like this would be more practical if the alternate mode was bound to a key. Doomzone did this to great effect, in my opinion. It also bugs me to see some weapons with an altfire whereas certain other ones don't. Lacks consistency, to me. Regarding Diablo 2, I forgot that was a thing. Thank you for the reminder on a future frustration, lol. Did not know that function existed! Knowledge is indeed power. Thank you for that.

    What weapons do you dislike seeing in mods?

    I don't typically love grenade launchers much, but the KDizD Grenade Launcher is one I love for its design. Makes me think of a rocket launcher/ssg hybrid, and it doesn't have much of an arc either, which from trigger pull to impact the wait is minimal. Feels better to use than any other grenade launcher made for DooM, personally. But on topic, I never liked melee weapons much (knives/etc), save for the chainsaw and the fist weapon in LegenDoom (especially with Explosive). Scoped weapons also feel weird.

    I know it's been mentioned before, but Burnt Offerings always stood out to me as fascinating. I was *slightly* disappointed by the actual map but by no means do I hate it; quite the opposite. Just what I had in mind did not match (somewhat). But to answer main question: Awash in Blood (pwad) Vivisection (No Rest for the Living) Crucifix Held Close (cc4) Human Barbecue (Evilution) Deepest Reaches (Evilution) Redemption Denied (PSX) Of Ashes and Wormwood (gothicdm) Necrose Evangelicum (gothicdm) Human Processing (SlayeR) I'm sure there is more but that's just off the top of my head.

    Thank you Grazza, but sadly none of these are it. I do love ruinbros, though, played it years ago. The one I'm looking for, all maps run a brightsky (either Doom 2's sky1 or Plutonia's, can't remember) and all maps run a stone/brick theme.

    Some 10-ish years ago I remember playing a small mapset (probably 5 maps or so; could be 6) in a temple ruins setting. I don't recall the use of custom terxtures; I believe there were none. I remember one of the maps (methinks it was the third one...?) showed a good use of Rock1-3 textures. Mostly outdoors. That's all I can remember.

    This issue was addressed around this same time of year last year, but I could not see if/how it got resolved, so please allow me to try again: attempting to load a wad or a pk3, regardless of it being in the /GameFiles folder or not, will make a zipped copy into the /GameFiles folder. This seems...highly redundant? It also does that with pk3 files, which are already compressed afaik. This is with the latest (2.6.0) version. Am I missing something?
  13. A combination of two. When editing, I see them both as gameplay pawns and as creatures that belong in their own habitat, so to speak. I take into account their strengths & limitations, along with their aesthetic appeal and go from there. It creates a whole new type of immersion for me; makes me able to somehow see them both as artificial things and something that belongs where I see it. As someone said earlier in the thread, it makes some maps much come very much alive. This is even more so if there's new/custom monsters involved. You have to take into account what they look like, what they will do and how you want to use the monster. It also makes me agree with phml's POV as well. "No atmosphere, no soul"? Sometimes it takes the kind of mind where challenge actually provides the atmosphere, IMHO. under comes to mind...namely, Pale Monument. That map had quite an impression of me. Still my favourite map of the whole set thus far.
