The Official 'Trying to Find a Specific WAD' Thread

I found this post during my annual namesearch You made me go digging. I recognized THEICE! as being my first map ever made, but it was nowhere on my hard drive. Thankfully my dear old dad (the guy who was running the frad.org server for so long and providing all the frads in #doom2 email addresses for a while) is a hoarder and still has his entire BBS backed up so he managed to find two of them. Not sure what you're expecting with these, but as the file timestamp indicates, they're from Oct 10 1995 and Dec 12 1995. They're Doom levels made by a 9 year old in the infancy of Doom custom maps. As THEICE!.txt says, "anyone who thinks this one sucks will be greatly surprised when I learn to make doors." And to my 9 year old self's credit my maps did get slightly better after I learned to make doors. So here you go, attached and fresh out of '95. FROZEN.ZIP THEICE!.ZIP
  2. All good points! I'll add them when I get the chance. Thank you! Sounds like custom prboom configs are important to a lot of people so I'll see what I can do there.
  3. Ah damn, sorry--I did all the dev for this on Linux so never get a chance to test Edge. The joys of web development. I'll try Edge when I can and see if I can reproduce the problem. Glad it's working for you now, though!
  4. It's no trouble, I'm sorry this isn't working for you! It looks like it's working when I upload it - http://doomlmps.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/run/45 - so it may be a client-side issue. Which browser & version are you using? If you're using Firefox or Chrome, can you check the dev tools to see if there are any Javascript errors that would be causing the submit to fail?
  5. I didn't realize people loved their esoteric demo categories so much these days! I can adjust things for sure.
  6. Hmm, I don't think see any errors in the server log. Can you post the LMP you're trying to upload here?
  7. Ah, gotcha. Sorry if things were unclear, but the videos have to be public; if they were private, they'd only be viewable by the account that's uploading them (i.e. me).
  8. Hmm, not sure I follow; you're talking about this, right? http://doomlmps.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/run/42 It looks like the LMP uploaded correctly and it recorded fine. The form submission should be all-or-nothing, so even if your internet cuts out in the middle of submission it'll either be complete or just not go through.
  9. Yeah, it's 30fps; this is just another encoding time/quality tradeoff, since 60fps doubles (or at least significantly lengthens) the encoding time.
  10. Nah that was me uploading just to test your LMP, you didn't do anything wrong :) I can also add pacifist as a category a bit later. At some point I could certainly add the ability to edit demos, though there'd obviously need to be some kind of auth/user login system so... quite a bit of work. But doable.
  11. Great point, I had videos set to upload as unlisted during testing. Just switched them to public.
  12. Hah, I think the problem may have been the app getting rate limited by gamers.org; or some other HTTP connection pooling problem. After I restarted the app it looks OK and recorded (though this obviously isn't a uv-max demo...)
  13. @Linguica How do you feel about the encoding now with CRF 20? Looks better to me. Encoding time went up a bit, but probably worth it.
  14. Haha, great question--right now there's no way to just view all runs or anything so either copy & paste the URL to somewhere you can find later, or change the number until you find your run :) Yeah, not great, I know. I'm planning on adding an "all runs" page soon. BTW, I figured what the heck, btsx is a pretty popular one so I coded in a special exception for it. It should work now (loading both files and the dehacked file), so give it a try. I also added UV -fast by your request!
  15. Oof, thanks for testing this out, this had/has a couple problems--one, the file size exceeded an internal limit that I wasn't aware of (easy to fix). Two, btsx_e1 breaks out into btsx_e1a and btsx_e1b, so you'll probably have to wait until I add multi-WAD support (and .deh support) to record BTSX demos--sorry about that.
