Damn. This is a day of great sadness. Another of our best, gone, but never to be forgotten. And in Jim's honor, a good day to die in his fantastic maps.

Site and/or forum bugs or things not working

I've had RSS feed enabled for several years. Very handy. Always worked. I just now realized (slow, I know) that it stopped working. Last March. Final notification is 10 March 2017. I miss this, especially since I seem to do my reading here in great semi-annual spasms. Also, in Seamonkey the new message editor looks goofy (tho it seems to work all right). Menu looks like styles aren't working: just text with mouseover, no images.

    OBLIGE 7.5 Released

I use the STRAIN monsters on normal maps. Works great for making old maps new again. For real craziness, I load DEHs from both Strain and MythTC (someday we'll release it, someday!) which makes for crazy unpredictable monster types and behavior (like demon lords that randomly throw a cluster of variable-speed projectiles, holobot homers affected by gravity, and suicide bombers that sometimes take a dislike to an innocent wall). And I've had the thought that the ideal autogenerator would combine elements from both OBLIGE (which looks better) and ObHack (which plays better).

    OBLIGE 7.5 Released

Looking forward to trying it out. Last time I used it, the layouts were pretty good but the monster/supplies placements left too much to be desired. I use ObHack all the time, because of exactly this point -- I can make maps precisely to my taste in difficulty, size, and complexity any time I want one. No need to wait for someone else to do it, and it's a change from human-made maps that I've already played multiple times. Having a variety of autogenerators is all good, by my lights. So kudos and thanks!
  5. On the late train here but just wanted to thank all the folks who continue to feed my DOOM habit with wonderful new maps.

    The /newstuff Chronicles #487

I agree, gives me a quick handle on what's to come. Sometimes I'm in the mood to read long reviews, sometimes not, but if not I can always stop reading, eh? I think it says a lot for our WAD authors that they inspire detailed reviews. Good job, reviewers, both long and short.

Me too! Oh, it was painful... well, now everyone who missed the privilege of DOOM on a bottom-end 386 can experience it!

Thank you for letting us know. Ty was family to us as well.
  12. Wow. Freakin' awesome!! Doom2 Done Quick in Real Life! Come to mention it, anyone recall offhand the total time on D2DQ? does this beat it? The blooper reel is great too. Good editing job there!

    Sunlust [on /idgames]

Seems like enough people like the old versions and evicted maps that you might want to cobble together a "rejects" mapset from those, rather than having them disappear entirely.
