About This File

A large UAC weapons production facility, with three departments: The ballistics production/shipping/testing area, the explosives production/testing area, and the chem/nuclear/bio weapons area (restricted access). The latter has chemical handling facilities and one reserve ICBM. A second is ready to launch, in the explosives area. Red key access may be granted on launch floor. Also equipped with a telegate entrance, standard airflow management systems, and a small hangar/starport area for shipping purposes. A distress call was recently received, and the marines called their best man into the field. You. They tried sending in a marine buddy of yours before you, who has not been heard from since. Your mission: scout the plant and rescue your buddy (Anyone who's read the Doom book series by Dafydd Ab Hugh and Brad Linaweaver should know who this certain "buddy" is).

This is a very large and elaborate pre-source port level. It reminds me of the old Aliens TC, in that it has a lot of air conditioning ducts and plant areas. If anything it's too elaborate - the ducts go on forever, and a lot of the map feels empty and bare. But it's still exceptionally good for 1997, and I like the way that you're given several different paths to explore. The "ambient background sound" (Quake's quad damage power-up noise) becomes irritating quickly.

I thought this was a very well put together level, the air ducts could get confusing at times but it did'nt subtract much from the overall gameplay. i also thought the ICBM launch and the various explosive ordinance's were very clever as well, a solid map in my opinion

A fun idea, a fun execution, and even more fun gameplay. Wonderful. A must play.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.
