Tarnsman Posted August 3, 2016 If I wanted an overpriced aircraft that looks cool I'll take an F22 thank you very much. (Those look better than the F35) 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted August 4, 2016 More like "ready" for "combat". It's IOC, not FOC. Basically they mean they moved out of alpha and are now in beta, but they're still far from the gold. 0 Share this post Link to post
zZaRDoZz Posted August 4, 2016 Sadly, the airforce will be giving the A-10 hog the 'ol "tomcat treatment" just to assure funds for this thing. https://warisboring.com/why-is-the-u-s-air-force-dismantling-some-of-its-stored-a-10s-a0accec8b7ab#.2qrkh07t5 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted August 4, 2016 Everyone loves the A-10 because it's built around a giant gun, but given how nowadays 99% of its missions involve flying very high to be out of range of MPADS and launching guided bombs (instead of flying close to the ground and strafing stuff up) its core design is obsolete. If you want to have an old aircraft that's cheap to use in permissive environments, then you'll get a much better bargain with the Bronco. 0 Share this post Link to post
Aquanet Posted August 4, 2016 This is an old but interesting story about the changing world of fighter pilots and jets. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2009/03/the-last-ace/307291/ 0 Share this post Link to post
