About This File

Action Doom is meant to try and bring back the run and gun feeling from the old 2D shooters like Contra and Metal Slug. In the tradition of such games there are no bullet weapons, only projectiles. And just like Contra every enemy and subsequently you, all have but one hit point, aside from bosses and mini bosses.

To make the game feel more 2D and less frustrating, you will never be attacked from behind, and the level is entirely linnear.

Absolutely horrible, consists of a boring slog through about three badly-designed and ugly levels. The "plot" is also incredibly asinine and makes absolutely no sense. Avoid like the plague. -5/5 stars

The fact that you die after one hit makes the game suffer a lot! I know it’s supposed to be like the 2D action games, but at least when you die in the 2D games, you pick up right were you left off. He should have kept the original DooM shooting style. The fact that you can catch up to a bullet and die is pretty lame. The bullets look more like marshmallows.

^omg commentor sux balls, at least explain why it scks retard. anyways it was real fun to play, it was diffrent, it was fun. and overall really good. the second one isn't bad at all, just diffrent and unique, though all the bad ending got tiring -_-, had to do it just right. rather dark and realistic taste to it. 5/5 -deathknight

I dont'like this one much because I am used to the original doom/2, but for sure, this one IS legendary, so I have to give 5 stars for this (with no regrets)

Certainly dserves a place in any TOp 5 Wads of All Time list, or for that matter TOp 5 Game Mods of All Time list! While very hard, it is extremely fun, and some levels are beyond innovative. The scripting is amazing as well.

Well everything about this wad is pretty good. Graphics, secrets, weapons, levels, etc. is all good. One more thing I hate is the ugly 2d character graphics. I mean if you can't make good 2D characters just use the default please. The graphics for them are a joke, enemies are great though. Love the minigames but not the extreme situations with 1 HP! I am not racist to this with 1 hp I knew it would still be fun but DAMN! is it hard! Anyways 5/5.

I'm sorry, but this sucks shit. I wish Scuba Steve never entered Doomworld, let alone stuck around nominating crappy zdoom wads every year including his own. I'm happy this stupid overrated wanker doesn't make wads for DooM anymore. Now he just has to stop writing the Cacowards.

That's my kind of stuff, action, movement and visualy intensive. There's several way to go to one places and some effects realized with the zdoom engine shows a very creative mind. Steeve, good job. I'm totaly impressed, and it gave me some ideas... -_^ -GodCells

I have to agree with the guy above the guy above me's cacoward argument. Ever since this wad Scuba Steve has taken a downward spiral to being a cheap hack that has everyone else do everything for him like with AD2.

      Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

      These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

      A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

      Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.
