About This File

A heavily Alien Vendetta Map10 (by Kim Malde, titled "Toxic Touch") inspired sewer map, initially created in roughly 110 minutes in early March. The map is mildly challenging, and there is one trap in particular that is quite nasty if you don't know what's coming (it's only so bad on UV). As I was not completely satisfied with the original attempt, detail has been added, textures aligned, and one room got a complete change in structure. The level of detail is still similar to that of Toxic Touch. Keep in mind that slime will not harm you, with the exception of the large pool in one of the final rooms.

Map01 is the touched-up version of the map, while Map02 is the original (with a few minor bugs fixed, however). Map02 has no skill settings, and so it is nearly identical to Map01 on UV.

Good fun, although not quite as hard as reputed; the very start and the last-but-one room are tricky, but the middle bit is so-so. The end is potentially hard but you can just run past it (you can run past the beginning, too, although it hurts). Oddly, the toxicity doesn't hurt. The remake reworks the toxic cavern near the end, and it also fixes the original's cheapest bit - a trap with an invisible barrier - and adds a new twist to the teleporting archvile.

Not as nice as the one I played before this, but still a pretty nice map. Kinda short but provides a good challenge. I got a little pissed off when I was playing this. 8/17/07

A small, but very difficult map. Surviving this is no means easy. Even though there are only 76 monsters, you get a good selection of different monsters. Architecture and design is very nice. -PC 4/5

A solid linear map. Monster placement and balance are ok, the map looks great. I can't help it but I prefer the original attempt. For me the gameplay was uninspiring and not fun. ( but the previous map I played was europa 1). 4/5 coldfusio.

I love Map01, but what's up with Map02? It's just a messier version of Map01! Must be a joke or something. Anyways, 5/5 for Map01.

I thought it was too short and underdeveloped. Take the theme of toxicity to the next level. Where's all the toxicity that's meant to wow me? It wasn't there. The map plays nicely, though for a theme like this it would have been better if the pace went more slowly.

Solid stuff, quite hard on UV but still possible. 2nd map didn't differ much from the first, so it's more like 1 map in the package.

Good one: almost no dull moments, most fights are dynamic and interesting. Liked.

Frustratingly difficult. A bunch of "Fuck you" traps and not much else.

Fine short tribute level (I played mostly the final version, but its good to see the more raw attempt included). It takes the theme and general style from Mutator's original properly and adds it's own pretty tough game play. I also like the connectivity between the areas, where you return to the initial parts at the end. Keep up the good work. [4/5] ~Chain Mail (08/2007)

I like those kinds of maps, small/medium size, nice and not extremely detailed architecture with textures I like in maps, good gameplay (medium difficulty) and evil traps. Reminds me of my favorite maps in the era 96-98. 5/5 - Optimus

This is a very small map, but has a nice atmosphere. It's a dark building with lots of acid streams, but they don't affect gameplay too much. Some easy to medium-hard monsters are populating the map, however I've played the map on skill 2 by mistake, which was only a mild challenge, but entertaining nontheless. 4/5 -Milian

This is like the Amalgoom project 20 years before it ever came to be. Amazing little map.

A fun idea, a fun execution, and even more fun gameplay. Wonderful. A must play.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.
