  1. Tomorrow is the first day of college classes. I began to suspect that something was amiss when I was the only one to get off the bus at Kelsey. Normally, there are 20 to 30 people getting off. I ended up wasting two bus tickets, worth $3.20 in total, but see if I care.

I decided to throw a party for the new millenium. I got in fireworks, food, booze and music, and sent out "New Millenium Party!" invitations to all my friends. Only on the night of the party did I realise it was actually the 31st of December 1999! Fortunately everyone was too polite to point out my mistake.

  2. This thought just popped into my head like 30 seconds ago, so don't expect too much from this blog. Although I have felt this way for quite a while.

Despite virtually every new computer game being 3D these days, very few of the games really take full advantage of the 3rd dimension. Almost all of them are bound to the concept of a flat landscape with gravity pulling in one absolute direction.

For example, I want to see a game that involves space stations clustered to each other. It should be something akin to having artificial gravity pulling you constantly to the "floor," regardless of whether the floor is facing one side of the space station or the other side. We could, in essence, be required to travel from one station to other to complete whatever task or search for whatever item we need. However, the mere concept of a direction being "up" one minute and "down" the next would be refreshingly new to gamers. I thing that it wolud have the potential of being extremely new and fun because we would have this incredibly new challenge of keeping our directions straight.

And perhaps, in the later levels of this imaginary game, the clusters could shift their connections to each other in a "rubix cube" type rotation, which would increase the challenge even more.

I remember there's a secret area in Serious Sam where you can run about the interior surface of a huge sphere. That's the only time I've ever seen a game begin to explore the possibilities of nonstandard gravity. I've often wondered how hard it would be to recreate Relativity, or something similar, in a modern game. Engines like Quake, Unreal and Source are extremely customisable, so surely they'd allow you to do this sort of thing.

  3. Someone asked me this question today, and I thought it came at a pretty appropriate time. It actually got me thinking about all the times I've been super angry and the reasons for it.

If I had to give a final answer, I honestly might have to go with this past Monday, November 29, 2004, at approximately 4:00 AM. I know I've never actually been angry enough to punch a wall before, but then again, I was drunk.

  4. It's interesting that the human race has been around for 200 thousand years or something along those lines. But it was just in the last few hundred years that people stopped burning witches and slavery was abolished. It was in the last century that women were officially considered people, just like men.

Obviously society has evolved quite a bit in the last few hundred years. But is it really evolution? After all, evolution is an improvement process that spans over millions of years, not hundreds, so I doubt it.

So what has happened over the past few hundred years to cause this blossoming of morality? I'll tell you what has happened: Medical science.

Before modern medicine, childbirth was a gravely dangerous process. It was common for women to die, and the chance of the baby surviving was practically a coin toss. Even when a childbirth was successful, brain damage was common. Oxygen deprivation during birth is the #1 cause of permanent brain damage; the kind that leads to mental retardedness and growth deformities.

With the surface of modern hospitals and childbirth administered by trained professionals, brain damage has been reduced dramatically.

But is this true throughout the world? Not at all. A significant portion of the world is too impoverished to have access to what we consider "modern medicine." This just happens to be areas such as South America, Asia, and most of Africa, which (not coincidentally) are hotbeds for terrorism and religious extremism.

To summarize, people murder because of brain damage, and that damage is caused by birth complications. The more we can advance medical science, the better the world will be.

Interesting theory. Having suffered from oxygen starvation at birth myself, I don't think I'm crazy, but perhaps it's only a matter of time before I turn into a raging murderous fundamentalist terrorist.

  5. Well took a bit of a break before christmas. So i went up to see my grand parents who i will not see agian for a while, next summer.

This place is really wierd. They claim the house is haunted. IF you know more about the area then you can kinda see why.

The area was home to native american tribes. It's rare, but sometime bones are found when homes are built. A walk in the field behind this house can turn up handfuls of arrow heads and other objects. The road outside of the home is a death trap, literaly. numerous deaths have occured infront of this house or land surrounding the house. Mainly due to people being drunk or stupid. Infact a rather creepy message has been scrawed onto a telephone pole in front of the house.

Needless to say this is NOT a house to stay up and play silent hill 2. I did that the other night, and it really freaked me out. mainly cause my grandfather walke dinto the room very quitly and a saw something moving in the window, his reflection/shadow.

    things that are wierd here.
foot steps, often from the basement or attic.
voices, but very rare. usally heard by children. once heard by adults during christmas.
moving objects, common. fucking ghost took my damn X-box controller! maybe it just wants to challenge me to a game of halo? no, shit just moves around. pictures have "flown" across the room. and in one case a toy riendeer was unpacked and turned on in the basement.
electornic devices behave oddly. batteris die early or devices randomly come on and shut off. so far computers not affected. However the area does have odd geological activity and there are 3 large radio/TV stations near by. those may also explain "voices"

Its creepy here, but peaceful. Nothing bad has ever happened to a family member here. Only to the careless drivers and drunks outside of the home.

  6. there is one part of my self i don't like that i can change in an instant. my name. I am named after my father, a man whom i am nothing like nor can i respect. I dont like being confused with a corrupt drug addicted lawyer who let whores beat his children. I am a completly differnt person than my father. also the fact that just about everyone else with my last name is about the same way.

the name i may choose is a name my grandmother wanted, but she died 4 years before i was born. however i would most likly change the whole name, not just the first. most likly taking my mother's last name of murray.

in which case i would become James Murray.

it is something i have thought about doing for a long time, ever sence i was 10. its not really an if at this point, but when.

I forgot to model any connection between the upper and lower parts but if thats the worst thing about it I am in good shape

    1. Jonathan

      Jonathan

Uh guys, I'm pretty sure the first picture is a real photo, followed by four of the model based on it. Still, nice work, what modelling package did you use?

  14. Girl 1: "fake tits do suck. but then as a possessor of huge real ones, i have a right to say that they suck too. ugh. i'd kill to have a healthy (ie not a resectioning) way to get smaller boobs. they take up half my stupid torso."

Guy 1: "Fake breasts are a major turn off. I can't understand how a person can want that done. Gah! I'm getting disgusted just thinking about it. I won't lie. I do enjoy looking at large breasts. Though, I can't understand what draws myself and other men to them. When it comes to being with a woman, breast size plays no role. I don't care what size they are because the breasts aren't the part that can go crazy and try to kill me.

Guy 2: "I personally prefer smaller breasts than bigger ones, but a well to do lady is fine with me. I just like the idea that a chick can jump around and be more active without worring about hurting herself, maybe. They just seem more like they want to be attacked! But i'm not attacked to tits so i can devour a large breasted girl as well"

Girl 2: " have such small breasts, it's really sad, but everyone says that they are well proportioned to my body. I just happen to like women with bigger breasts. But, I'd never have implants, because then they wouldn't feel the same, and who wants to feel fake. ugh."

Me: "It's when an (alleged) 17 year old has them (see Britney Spears for further reference) alongside being a smoker, and having a gross fake tan. Add that to a bunch of twee teen movies and it makes me want to slit open their chest, pull out the bags of plastic and shove them down their throats."

Guy 1: "Oddly enough, I'd pay to see that."

Me: "Pass me a couple of grand and immunity from prosecution and you've got yourself a home movie."

  16. So it's 4:15 PM today and I'm at the bar with some classmates after a long week at school. I order a Ricker's schooter and a plate of 10 teryaki wings (at $2, I didn't realize that they weren't on special). We laugh it up for about half an hour, making fun of the other Dvorakers in our class. and as the waitress comes around, I finish off the ale and give her the empty glass, nodding politely. About fifteen minutes later, she comes around with another pint, saying "That'll be $3.25, please." I reply with "What? I didn't order that." -- "No, when I asked you if you wanted another, you nodded twice." I protested. "No, I can't drink another one of those!" She walks off in a huff. A friend sitting across from me said that he didn't hear her say anything about another drink.

Next time, if the waitress asks me if I want another one, I'll nod my head yes and say "no."

    1. Jonathan

      Jonathan

You should have smashed the glass in her face.
