About This File

Mindless senseless violence. Plain and simple! A tribute to the classic, with ample ammo and monsters running around. Not nearly as hectic in DM, but a good fragging ground nonetheless.

I'm interested in including a cool speedrun or other interesting demo in the next release. If you make one (with the standard Doom2.exe), please let me know.

not an effective Dead Simple clone if we are to be honest. it starts with hitscanners and hell knights after the initial room with the megasphere, along with the enemies that come out of the onion layer from the doors. barely any health in this area to help with the hitscanners, and the windows make things harder to dodge. once the outer portion is there the going is a bit easier where you can invoke infighting and there's a bit more health, but you have an exit switch on any side and well leave any time. it's not really an effective Dead Simple clone probably because it only uses the mancubi, no arachnotrons are present, and while more frantic due to the hitscanners is somehow not as harsh.

This is okay, but it's very small. It's basically a recreation of Map07, in the sense that it's a symmetrical arena divided into onion layers. It's a lot easier than Map07 (the megasphere at the start is OTT) and you have lighter weapons. The exit switches aren't blocked off, so you can skip past half of the monsters.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
