To be honest I liked it. It's really tiny but still maintains an odd form of detail. 3/5 Joe Anderson

Matt Dixon and his team is are geniuses, they put in so much detail into the maps and the gameplay is so great it's awesome as hell! Worth the download. 5/5

Every time someone argues on how 'detail is the most important aspect of a wad', I point them to THIS.

OMFG. Load up E1M1, and look. Just look. YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS ARCHITECTURE!! 4/5 for having no single player.

To be fair, it's only Matt Dixon's levels that suck ass. The music, however, is utter shit.

The author clearly put in some effort, but to be honest, I believe that it was totally unnecessary for me to take the maps seriously. Map 03 was a different story though. It has more than enough details, but does not become so absurdly detailed that my eyes hurt. ;-) My point is, I am still very much a fan of 1994 levels since I admire their simplicity. Galaxia is a good example.

Very interesting, although today there are normal maps that largely surpass it in linedef/vertex count, and especially in sector count, since there is so much copy and paste and the architecture is mostly repetitive/symmetric . It probably still holds highest "detail density" record. Like it or not, this is a Legendary WAD

After playing the first three levels, I'm left with one thought: "Wow!" It is obvious you spent hours making the level design, as it is a creative mix of neo-gothic architecture perfect for the year 2059; however, it is so friggin' detailed, that navigating the level is next to impossible as maps progress. To be blunt, it's way too cluttered. Cut down on the details. Otherwise, amazing job. 3/5 --Lullz (Bovic)

This wad is the ultimate proof that detail does not equate to gameplay. I can't imagine anyone playing a fun game of DM in this cramped, dark pile of shit. -lynxtor

Terrible for a DM wad, then again, DM is a terrible gamemode that gets old fast. This is the kind of WAD that you just walk through. No, it doesn't have intuitive level design, but neither did DOOM. 4/5

It's great to look at. A feast for the eyes. Deathmatch? Not so much.

If nothing else, it makes a descent way to see how much abuse your computer can take. Considering the Infamous section saying it's "1% the framerate", I'm surprised my computer handled it surprisingly smoothly.

Beautiful set of maps, just not very fun to play in. Music is some of the best I've ever heard in any Doom game or PWAD. - Turok

Wouldn't really be very good deathmatch levels, since they're mostly lots of awkward, narrow hallways with weapons all easily accessible. The architecture, though, is incredible, if a bit overblown. It looks good enough that I will give it a 4/5.

It reminds me of the old film "Heaven's Gate". To be fair, it's visually stunning. The levels are atmospheric and look superb. But I can't imagine that playing them in deathmatch is any more entertaining them just exploring them on my own; the framerate issues aren't a problem nowadays, but the levels are just too fiddly and nooky to work up a rhythm. As someone says above, the first two maps are the infamous ones; later maps are more appropriate.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
