I'm gonna give it 1 star because it's at least playable. It's still bad, but not bad enough to warrant a zero.

"Wolf3D-style" in this case means a weird mixture of DOOM and Wolfenstein, neither a faithful recreation of the latter nor a skillful blend of both (like e.g. Operation Rheingold). The "nazi base" portions of the levels feel unpolished, even unfinished at times, while the "demonic" portions often are garish. Neither really appeals, and the gameplay went downhill as the WAD continued; acceptable at first, grating after a couple of maps. 1/5

Actually, it's not good at all. Repetitive, lots of hitscan and very little health. No need for it to have been made to require Zdoom/jumping.

It's blocky looking and hard to shoot enemies far away with just a pistol. Plus, the shotgun mod shoots and acts more like a rifle. Meh.

Reading the opinions above I was like "Oh dear", but it was actually pretty nice to at least checking it out. The song of Map 08 will be on Youtube. About the gameplay.. I don't know.

Too short, too hard, and way too many hitscan dudes. Way to improve.

This project shows potential, but please thoroughly test & play your levels before uploading them, at least remove the bugs. 3 for the efford, 1 for playability, so 2/5.

Most of Project RAGNAROK would put a strain of even the most vet doomer's skills. DOOM2's texture usage is ugly. Life and ammo are never enough in a wad where there are globs of monster. It seems like the author didn't bother to play test or revise his maps before uploading. Worst of all, their were deadends and no secrets on more than one occasion. On the plus side, tracks seemed decent. -FoH

Terrible even for wolf3d maps, and the original wolf3d maps were bland and repetetive to begin with.

I can't found any flaw made it 1/5 or even 0/5, bad textures choice and some bugs. Yeah, the author should try harder in his this mapset. But no, this one isn't vomit at all. 2/5 -playerlin

Download the REAL file here (rd1.zip is NOT correct) https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/d64d2   Shocked to see so many negative reviews. I had an absolute blast with this one, and I'm not sure what Nems was talking about with the Boom stuff as this runs in Doom2.exe with no trouble. In fact, there is a TON of impressive vanilla stuff going on here. I guess it was so well done that it tricked him.   This deserves a high score. It's a lot of fun.

It definitely makes Doom look darker, but also slightly changes colors (it reminds me PSX Doom). I prefer original Doom colors and miss how it looked on CRT (almost same colors as with modern monitors, but less brightness and maybe more contrast).

Great spirit/item placements, and also nice trap placements. Textures are georgeous and scream "1980's sci-fi action movie".

Some very cool techbases with a nice texture set and pallette.  The music is pretty epic.  And it all runs in vanilla! (Or so it is said, I played it in GZDoom)

I honestly can't believe that this whole megawad is 100% vanilla compatible and its only the first of THREE episodic megawads! Esselfortium and her team of creative energetic mappers has done an amazing job from the unique texture set, the music, the maps & even the tweaked color palette that fits the mood of the whole thing.    100% highly recommended! 5/5
