About This File

This is my first attempt at making a serviceable level. I borrow heavily from one level in particular from Doom 1. However, this is much shorter. The goal of this level was to be short and decent. Would love some feedback.

For what's it's worth, I think this level primarily needs better texturing, but otherwise it could be a good starting point for a larger WAD. It's size alone (35 enemies) doesn't offer much of a gameplay. Maybe try to make a longer level and avoid applying wall textures to floors.

This is very clearly a myfirstlevel.wad. It doesn't flow very well, the encounters are boring and easy. There isn't much detailing at all and the texturing is all over the place. It was definitely short but lacking secrets and had some very counterintuitive parts, gaps that you look like you can fit through for a secret but can't (check screenshot attached)

I go into more depth in the FDA + review I recorded for you here -

This is like the Amalgoom project 20 years before it ever came to be. Amazing little map.

A fun idea, a fun execution, and even more fun gameplay. Wonderful. A must play.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.
