About This File

This is mainly a Deathmatch WAD, but some single-player support has been added, too. COMPLETELY NEW! Not at all like my pervious WADs, which were modifacations on id's levels. This is COMPLETELY NEW! I reccomend that you use this for Deathmatch, but you can test it out on single. This is an attempted port of id's Quake level, E1M1. Just the layout was copied, however. And even not that completely. New lifts, and extra areas abound. Not ported using any external programs.

I love Quake, it's my favorite Shooter, and I totally forgive the lack of detail and technical refinement that Mapper concluded here, but I have to say that even though the map is still recognizable compared to the classic E1M1 from Quake...

The map just doesn't have such a refined texturing, a good light variation, and many of the areas don't even carry the classic Quake identity, as the best example: The part where we get the Nailgun, there aren't even monsters and an encounter with Zombiemans in that room , there is very little positive to consider here unfortunately, but it was a bit fun in some parts.

Either way, there are a lot of negative things that make it impossible to ignore while playing the level, a horrible map, how sad.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.

If I wanted Quake, I'd play Quake, not a Doom wad about Quake.

Poor. It has the basic layout of Quake's first level, but it's like a child's drawing in comparison. Whatever effect the author was trying to achieve by missing out wall textures is lost on me. I have seen several Doom levels that are based on Quake levels, and some of them are extremely impressive. But this is beneath the bottom of the barrel.

Heh, nice. I drew this WAD up when I was 14. Yes, it's awful, but what a blast from the past.

"Blast from the past? More like blast from my ass." - A quote so worthy I used it as my Facebook status. This wad brought Doom into the communication age! I'm still giving it fuck all though.

This is really bad, even as a stand alone level. Exit switch doesn't even work either. 0/5

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
