Rz.wad looks uglier than the twisted bum-gut of satan, and there are too many hitscan enemies. There are things stuck everywhere (stuck spider mastermind), the teleports aren't aligned, the very first room is a pain to get out of, two yellow keys. The gameplay is wall-to-wall automatic rocket fire. But it's therapeutic.

A pair of levels from 1998 (they're both Map01, so you can't play them sequentially). Rz.wad has 1,429 baddies and lost.wad has 2,785! It's like being in a large outdoors slaughterhouse. The levels are both very large and unsubtle, and involve running around shooting hundreds of monsters that infight. They're both really good levels - hard and mind-numbing, like Motorhead. Surprisingly playable (it's surprising that they are playable at all). Rz.wad is my fave.

Literally thousands of monsters to mow down. Not bad overall. The design is a bit crude, but it gets better after the starting areas.

LOST.WAD is my very favorite slaughter map (yep, theraputic). Every sort of ugly, lots of stuck monsters and bad-teleport bugs, but also tricky in all the right ways and never a dull moment. Largely non-linear on both sides the first keyed door. 'Safe' spots all have ways to get you. Tons of supplies but you can still find yourself scrambling. Can be played for infighting strategy, too. Great with STRAIN monsters! RZ.WAD: even uglier, more linear, but almost as fun if you're in the mood.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
