About This File

The first edition of the sequel to the original Deus Vult. Heavily emphasizes co-op play and demo recording. Offers a wide variety of gameplay spanning nine levels, including gun n' run maps, slaughterfests, and tight survival maps. From small techbases to hellish cathedrals, Deus Vult II's levels are diverse in architecture as they are in gameplay, and offer a little bit of everything for the entire family.

Impressive architecture, interesting mods, flow like a brick. Full of fights with overpowered monsters in rooms too cramped to allow any significant amount of movement, with visibility constantly destroyed by piles of items senselessly stacked in the same exact place. If I just wanted to see impressive architecture, I'd go off and play Minecraft. Doom WADs need good gameplay, and this one doesn't even come close.

This is a worthy contender for a cacoward 10/5

Excellent in practically every respect, although if masses of monsters and AV/HR types of gameplay aren't your taste you might want to just go sight-seeing around it. This might be more worthwhile than you think, because to be honest I haven't been so overawed with "epic architecture" since Equinox and DV1. Unfortunately DVII requires a powerful PC to run - if you don't have one then you might run into some serious, possibly to the point of unplayable, lag.

Extremely good and excellent, even more awesome and more epic than the original DV. 5 Stars for every map except Crouching Tiger, Hidden Archvile [Map3] which I didn't really like all those trees restricting my movement. Difficulty towards the end is your standard insane slaughter ^_~ you and your buddies better pack your BFGs for Map23! Also, Map29 is just one of those wow moments the first time you get there. [You also have the option of playing through the original DV if you take a right.]

This level is to DooM wads what Patek Phillipe is to watchmaking - the absolute pinnacle; there can be no better. Whoever made this, you should seriously consider making your own indie games and selling them online. I'd seriously pay USD$30.00 per game for quality like this, assuming no proprietary crap and I keep my copy forever. Much respect to the authors.

Incredible. Anything less than 5/5 wouldn't be right.

Nice maps, with okay slaughterfest gameplay. However, this wad is overrated up the ass. Also, the author's pompous attitude puts me off.

epic. every map is a different theme and has different gameplay. the vrack4 map could have easily been a chore to play through because of the insane intricacy of it, but the author succeeded in making it all very fun. The 360 landscape views are impressive as well. 5/5 for looks and 5/5 for gameplay.

I get the feeling I'm the only person on Earth who doesn't like this WAD. It gets a 5 in architecture, but 1 for gameplay and flow.

^completely agree with the guy above. The maps look great, but too often the battles are boring and tedious instead well orchestrated and tight like in DV1, i.e. map 12 is really just holding down the fire button, not much else to it. All in all still a blast to play though. 4/5

This WAD sticks clear out of the Idgames crap pile. Nothing else comes remotely close. You are the best mapper to ever grace the doom community. Period.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
