I was playing Sgt. Mark IV's Armagedoom until I got to the Sewers level and remembered why I stopped before: missing textures and things and the hitscan bonanza early at the start of the game killed it for me. :x

Are you a first or second generation Doomer and what makes you proud to be one?
Nems replied to Raheem's topic in Doom General
I'd consider myself first generation (I'm 35) though my time with Doom didn't really kick off until my family had their own PC which was around the time the source ports came out. I played it a little at a friend's house when it came out (I was 11 then), so that was my first actual exposure to it. Even when source ports did start coming out and my family had their own PC, I stubbornly stuck with DOS or Doom 95 because I didn't really know what source ports were (and any time I tried to run a WAD that required a source port in Doom 95 I was left thinking "WTF why ain't this working >:V"). It wasn't until I got my first ever PC in about 2002 or 2003 when I finally grasped what a source port was and started dabbling with that, starting with Doom Legacy, then Doomsday, then Risen3D before I got sucked into ZDoom and eventually GZDoom when it came out. I've also had the console versions of Doom (namely SNES Doom, PSX Doom, PSX Final Doom, and Doom 64) in one form or another in my life. -
I'm assuming we're talking vanilla Doom here so my vote went to the super shotgun. It's extremely versatile and it's useful in just about every situation. About the only time I don't use it is when I have no ammo for it (that's when I fall back to the chaingun), for when I need to kill something a little faster than normal (which is when I fall back on the rocket launcher and BFG), or when I need to keep a flying enemy stunlocked (also when I fall back to the chaingun). Even then, the SSG is just so satisfying and orgasmic to use. <3

I do have a legit question regarding Project Brutality: Is there anything in the Options menu that turns off those gosh-awful zombie/possessed voices? While I'm certainly not against using Brutal Doom or Project Brutality for a mapset that recommends its use, the zombie/possessed voices in Project Brutality are fucking awful to me, both in how unnecessarily loud they are and in how bad the vocals are. I'd probably give Project Brutality a try if I could turn those voices off. As it stands though, I'd rather just stick with Brutal Doom or, better yet, Johnny Doom.

MegaWAD of my dreams: something exceeding 32 maps of nothing but megamaps. I know most folks don't care for that and that's understandable. However, I like those kinds of long endurance runs, massive adventures that last for hours. Mod of my dreams: Just D4D/D4T/Argent also working with Heretic and Hexen. Having the Doomslayer punch the shit out of D'Sparil and Korax would make my day. :P

So I found this to be a pretty fun megaWAD. It feels familiar to the OG Doom 2 IWAD while still being and doing its own original thing. Map 9 can fuck right off with its precarious platforming though (I'm pretty sure the megaWAD wasn't designed for jumping but I did it anyway in the lava room with those skinny-as-fuck platforms) and I didn't care for the death exit in Map 20 (but I hate death exits in general). Despite my complaints, it's still worth a shot for those of you who are into megawad's like myself. :)

Maybe she just plays for fun and doesn't care about her "skillz". :I

I just got done playing Doom 64: Retribution. Definitely my new favorite way to play Doom 64. <3 Dunno what I'm gonna play next though. Trying to think of something that would go well with Woolie Wool's Mutiny mod but nothing is coming up. I wanna avoid any megawads that have an IoS for that kind of mod. :I

This is fucking boss looking. <3

Speak for yourself. :I I'd play the fuck out of out a megawad made up of 32+ megamaps.

Frank Klepacki is a fucking beast. <3

George A. Romero, 'Night of the Living Dead' creator, dies at 77
Nems replied to Lila Feuer's topic in Everything Else
I really enjoyed Romero's movies, even Diary of the Dead. Rest in peace. :( -
Trailblazer is life. <3 Also D4T and D4D and Argent are pretty cool too. Also NecroDoom because Doom needs more big stompy mechsuits. Also Doomzone for more class-based stuff.

I tried to get into it. I played through the entire thing from start to finish and it never really clicked with me. I think the more I played it, the more it reminded me of Hexen when I played through it and not in a good way. :\

Having played through it (and Heretic) recently, I appreciate what it did in terms of exploration. That being said, it's not really my cup of tea (neither is Heretic after giving it another spin recently) and I spent more time being lost and frustrated than I would have liked.

It seems a couple of doors in the level Tomb of Dead Scary Things don't work as intended in the current version of GZDoom even under the ZDoom 2.0.63 compatibility settings, making the level unbeatable. This sucks because I like the "of Chaos" stuff by udderdude as well as the rest of his stuff and I wanted to play this all the way through. :(

I remember playing this when you had released it on the ZDoom forums and I still love it to this day. I love your mapping style and anything you release has been a real treat in my eyes. :D Keep pumping out quality work, my man. <3

The gameplay might have been 'meh' but I have to admit that I really enjoyed the soundtrack of Unreal 2.
