About This File

A 32 level megawad for doom2. This megawad doesn't have perfect texture alignment, insane detail and fantasticly hard gameplay. Instead it focuses on small fun maps to blast through without much thought about defense. The difficulty rises steadily as you go through the maps and the last few should challenge even the best.

I hate to be so definitive, but as it stands, I've yet to play a WAD as fun as Scythe. My favorite of all-time for many reasons: varied gameplay that's always entertaining, strong layouts, classic feel... it just kicks ass. This is also the wad that inspired me to start making maps, so uh... props for that, too. 5/5 -Snakes

This is really good stuff. Easily one of the best wads I've ever played. Really good job!

The only thing that sucks about this wad is that it has too few levels. Other than that, this wad ties with AV and HR!

One of the best megawads ever, and in my opinion, this SHITS on "Scythe 2" which was just a cheap AV-ripoff. Short, fun and action-packed (but not impossibly hard), this is the spirit that more wads should be made in. 5/5 - if you like this you should definitely try the congestion/claustrop hobia 1024 series too.

Scythe 2 is MUCHO better, this one made it to the top 100, but I really don't know why. Sorry. Not horrible, but hardly worth the hype...

I dont know why I havent given it those 5 stars yet? repetitive? Not really... Each map got its originality and its own good layout and unique atmosphere. And a little mistakes? Hmm who cares? Maybe some noobs. Surely 5/5 for this "legendary" wad. -Gusta-

Wow, just wow. I'd been looking for a new megawad to play and man is this one incredible. Maps are short, action packed, well crafted, and just cool. The secret levels are neat as well (especially MAP 31 with the neat dungeon theme). 5/5, without a doubt.

Just when I had thought that "Go2it" was the most difficult Doom level ever made... I got to stage 30 of this WAD. Holy Cow, that's the first time I've ever encountered a stage that took me over an hour to complete (but loved every minute of it)!. Excellent work here; a lot of the levels were a bit on the easy side, but the hard levels were GENUINELY HARD.

It wasn't really my kind of WAD. I mean, it was a nice one to play, but it was too...classic-style for my tastes. I liked the insane last set of maps, though. Slaughter fests are fun! 3/5

Amazing piece of work. Everything about it is perfect - level design, detail, difficulty, textures (well except the alignment error at the beginning of map 10 :P ). I can't believe anyone would give this lower than 5 stars.

Best ever, along with AV, Scythe 2, HR2 (HR has very bad level design overall) and Ksutra. Deserves all of its 5 stars

Even though I like wads with lots of custom stuff like new music, textures and enemies, this was really fun to play. Good maps where it's easy to find our way around without wandering. This is even better and funnier in coop blasting your way through with friends.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
