THANKS GOD THE AUTHOR OF MAP06 DIED DAYS LATER OF THE LAUNCH OF THIS WAD Damn, fuck that map, the levels are bad for a 2003 wad, inclusive memento mori does it better for its era. And MAP01 is so fucking hard, MAN, its a fucking MAP01, an arachnotron and a mancubus and no other weapons than your fucking pistol or an useless chainsaw, and why so many voodoo dolls? damn,this is so overrated, I want to die

Worth playing, no doubt. Ignore the dumbfuck trolls. Taking on monsters with a chainsaw is a problem for n00bs.

appart from map 02, all the map are pure crap, also map 29 is not cool at all. the worst of the serie. 1/5

While I admit some of the maps weren't that great, it's not as bad as Arctures and the other guy made it out to be. They're just being over-dramatic. It's a solid mapset overall. 4/5

Mediocre. REALLY mediocre WAD. Some good maps are mixed with other terrible maps. I waited much more from this project. Also, the difficulty is pretty times uncompensed between levels. Map number #29 is out to the place. Very complicated and too long to complete. Also, map #30 is almost impossible to beat because the Boss excessive monster spawning, it should be a bit easier. By other way, map number #2 has some nice decorating details, but even could be better built. 2 stars and no more.

Of all the cchest wads, this one has definitely aged the poorest, shown its date the most. That said, it has the occasional select level that still remains pretty good, along with other acceptable ones. I guess I can't really recommend it over many more consistent community projects (cc3 and cc4 are best here), but I'm not going to give it less than a three either, because some of the levels are still worth seeing.

To be perfectly blunt, I didn't like this, I tried all ccs and all of them seem to suffer from a "pass-that-map-what -you've-got?-it's- in" syndrome. The ammount of good maps is surprisingly low (considering that community chest is highly hyped and even won cacowards), and many maps are horrible. From what I see, this is prolly the worst of the 3, so I'll see maybe I'll like the others better (atleast cc3 has map made by tormentor667, so it cannot be bad). Sorry...

A mixed bag, but mostly made up of under-average levels. A few maps are good and memorable, but most are bland and/or terribly unfun, and make you wish there was a more rigorous screening process involved. --JudgeDeadd

      Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

      These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

      A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

      Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

      Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
