About This File

The first edition of the sequel to the original Deus Vult. Heavily emphasizes co-op play and demo recording. Offers a wide variety of gameplay spanning nine levels, including gun n' run maps, slaughterfests, and tight survival maps. From small techbases to hellish cathedrals, Deus Vult II's levels are diverse in architecture as they are in gameplay, and offer a little bit of everything for the entire family.

Deus Vomit II. When I played through this, I felt like I was flipping through the pages of a children's coloring book.

Some of the best looking levels I have ever seen with such epic views and layouts. I'm blown away. Gameplay got a little ridiculous nearer the end, and that's coming from me! :p Still loved it though, can't wait to try co-op. 5/5, doom maps don't get better than this. --Darkfyre

As of the current date (towards the end of 2013), I have no qualms in calling this the best wad ever. It's gorgeous. The combat scenarios are the best that have ever been seen in Doom, yet the author resisted the impulse to become so focused on individual scenarios that the maps become "sequences of fights"; the flow is never broken. Close to perfect.

Incredible! I haven't played a Doom WAD in at least 10 years. I got the itch and wanted to see what the best of the best was in 2009. Was blown away! Last I remember, the Aliens TC was king. ;)

Some impressive mapping in here, but all the gimmicks and lame as fuck "humor" in there withdraws 4 stars, so 1/5 it is.

Finally got round to playing this last weekend and I have to say I don't think I've ever been pushed harder (I only had to turn -fast off 3 times too, demon trap in map 12, organ trap in map 21 and all map 22). The maps look and feel awesome, and that final map pushed me harder than anything else for a long time. Only bad points were map 22 (good concept but badly executed, even without -fast it's impossible to avoid the efreets and stay alive) and the fact that map 29 turned out to be DV 1.

It's too easy on "hey not too rough", too hard on "hurt me plenty" (for me). Level progression isn't so good and there's a lack of variation in the levels. Imagine a level where you start in a house then leave it using some sewers and end up in a military base. Combat can be dull sometimes because mostly you'll fight monster masses. 4/5 coldfusio

looks really nice, but the gameplay sucks unless you use godmode and use IDFA to give yourself more BFG ammo every 10 seconds.

Re:"All that means is that you're too lazy to learn how the maps work." A great mapper makes maps that flow well without having the need for the PLAYER to LEARN something to PLAY a GAME (hopefully the emphasis is enough of a hint here). The map design is definitely one of the weaker points of DV, the silly easter eggs being another. Still, great looks and fun gameplay on most maps, 4/5.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
