About This File

The first edition of the sequel to the original Deus Vult. Heavily emphasizes co-op play and demo recording. Offers a wide variety of gameplay spanning nine levels, including gun n' run maps, slaughterfests, and tight survival maps. From small techbases to hellish cathedrals, Deus Vult II's levels are diverse in architecture as they are in gameplay, and offer a little bit of everything for the entire family.

Underrated, I am astounded by complex and beautiful your levels are... they are showcase to best map design in any video game! 5/5

I really dont care if people see my review as a poor one, but this is one of the few "Legendary" wads that actually has bored me to tears. I'm sorry, other then good design and mapping the gameplay is sh*t. I'm sorry but in my opinion this is a 2/5 as it didn't entertain me, it just made me fall asleep. I have played Deus Vult 1 and that was better then this piece of trash.

Fun for a bit, then lags uncontrollably, then when it gets back to playable speed it's not fun anymore. The Stargate map is very confusing, and as such annoying. But worse, the last map is just pure TEDIUM. There is no tension and butt-kicking action anymore when all you're doing is tapping left and right a little bit and holding down a fire button, for minutes and minutes on end. Very promising first half, very tedious and OVERDONE second half. 3 stars.

The stargate level LOOKED nice, in fact it looked so nice I got lost constantly trying to find the next camoflauged switch. The unholy cathedral also looked nice, but don't get me started on how confusing that was, it was literally HELL.

This is by far one of the best wads I have ever played in my life. That's not an exaggeration either.

A lot of these levels are more confusing than Hexen. I am completely sick of the pointlessly annoying mazes in these levels. It wasn't really a problem until the Stargate map. Its completely freakin' ridiculous how many times I had to go all over the places to find my way. In that regard, the map design sucks. The maps are beautiful and the gameplay is awesome, but thats only when you can find your way. This made me give this a 3. Its just unacceptable frustrations.

Amazing. The architecture and level design is unique for each level and will leave you in awe. There are tricks and traps waiting around every corner. The item and weapon placement is commendable and monsters will appear at the most unexpected moment. However, some of the levels are HUGE. That being said if you don't have a modern PC then you might run into considerable lag. But this is one of the best, if not THE best WADs of 2008. It's easily up there with the likes of AV and Hell Revealed.

Seconded on opinion before me, I also am deeply impressed by the deep and varied gameplay. Take away the thousands of textures and fine architecture, and you still have yourself some of the best fights in doom, ever (map23's cleric siege was insane). 5 really big stars.

The mapsets are just so well made, their blueprints belongs in an art museum... that legendary Stargate level is just something else... you've outdone yourself ten times over, Huy. DVII gets a Perfect Score. -Nicholas PS: gg'nore Yeawan peep above me go somewhere else with your illiterate BS, you obviously don't recognize talent because you don't have any.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.
