Great original music. A exquisite blend of short and tense levels. Abstract details. Beautiful lighting. Spooky one.

Also for myself it was one of the first wads (megawads) I've ever played. The work with light levels, connection of maps and overall design was really influential on my own work. It is not the best wad ever made, but it stands out for me somehow.
Now I think that I've never played "The Talosian Incident" so I need to complete it as soon as possible.

Great level set. Also, the music on map05 through MIDI is simply phenomenally atmospheric.

where's Cygnus I, II, and III? Cygnus IV made entirely by John Bye is perhaps one of the shortest multi-level sets in existence, despite actually having 14 maps to its name. the style that Bye uses pertains to the scenery and the cinematic-like feel rather than actual Doom combat. as such, this is one of the easiest and oldest wads out there as well. many levels don't have more than 50 monsters and the actual level length can be easily done in a minute or so.

MAP01 is the best map in the set, owing mostly to its nice detail and hub format. the ones that follow it don't do as good, but Bye does his best with designing areas, as orthogonal as they are, they manage to look decent. yes, even the sewers. MAP05 had no monsters, MAP06 was a boss shooter map that is way too easy. MAP10 attempted a city level but didn't offer too much, at least besides the big enemies behind barricades. MAP11 was a huge cathedral but had very few monsters, with only the arch-vile as the main exhibit. MAP13, holy shit how the fuck do you do this level I won't even try at times. interesting concept but I'll be damned if I ever finish it. bleak finale for MAP14. it's got a cinematic feel, and either feels completely underwhelming or just okay, but never really amazing.

A very fun and well designed wad to play. I would give it a 5/5 if it wasnt so short.

The music is awesome, but it feels like playing a Doom fan fiction rather than map set. It is very short. 3/5 However I did love this as a kid, just not as good as I remembered.

This is the First Megawad I Played When I got a Modem. I like it. you Should too. Music is original, and pushes the Doom Engine a little more than your standard maps. if that makes any sense. -Csonicgo

This is like the Amalgoom project 20 years before it ever came to be. Amazing little map.

A fun idea, a fun execution, and even more fun gameplay. Wonderful. A must play.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.
