continuum.mid Posted February 26, 2022 (edited) Purchase or download on Bandcamp: https://ivanastan.bandcamp.com/album/the-midi-continuum A while back I released an album called MIDIocrity, consisting of the MIDIs in my first few months in this community. At this point I was already involved in numerous projects, including @Cammy's TNT MIDI Pack and @Ofisil's Theme-gawad #1, and I had also started a MIDI project of my own, the Ultimate MIDI Pack, a soundtrack replacement for Doom. The result seemed to be pretty well received. Since then I've been honing my composition skills; I showed off some of that development in Bedroom Productions, though due to being a mix of my best MIDIs and a bunch of older stuff I was less confident in that one. I wanted to write a cohesive album this time, so I came up with the idea of a gapless album in MIDI. My efforts on that front fell short due to writer's block, so this became another compilation of various unreleased things. But I think this one demonstrates my skill in MIDI composition better than my last two albums and coheres together better. The recordings, done by@DCG Retrowave, should give them all a very nice quality. I hope everyone enjoys it! Included in this album: a 16-minute, four-part title suite (Continuum I through IV), my and DCG Retrowave's Alien Vendetta MIDI Pack contribution (The Berggren-Malde Complex), one speedMIDI from an event hosted by @Dragonfly (Deliberate Concealment), two covers (Pachelbeldansen and Tsuki no Koibumi), and two unfinished bonus tracks on the Bandcamp release. As with MIDIoctity, all of these tracks except the covers may be considered public domain; for the covers, I recommend crediting me alongside the people I covered - "Pachelbeldansen" is a mashup of "Caramelldansen" by Caramell, "Pachelbel's Canon" by Johann Pachelbel, and "Dreams of Our Generation" by Tsunku, inspired by the work of jan Misali; "Tsuki no Koibumi" is a cover of a song originally by Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld and Laura Shigihara. Thanks to all those mentioned above, alongside @Bloo for being a great collaborator and friend, who worked on an early version of this album but whose contributions didn't make it in, and @A.H. Sankhatayan for giving me the opportunity to soundtrack some great maps! As a side note, it's been a little over a year since I joined Doomworld, so thanks to everyone here for making a great community! I hope it will remain as welcoming and fun as it has been for the next year and beyond. Edited February 26, 2022 by northivanastan 15 Share this post Link to post

Dragonfly Posted February 28, 2022 And now I've listened - Really enjoyed the continuous flow of the tracks from one to the next. I'd have to say my favourite track was Aftermath, very powerful and tense sounding. Solid work! 1 Share this post Link to post
