bytebeats Posted December 19, 2015 yeah, i'll definitely finish them. i finished one of them just now, my title for it is "demon dance" but i'm sure you guys could find a more fitting name for it! https://soundcloud.com/bytebeats/demon-dance-v2/s-zANIt i threw in a reference from e2m1 in the song, can you find it? 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted December 19, 2015 Ooh, I really like that track. However, we just removed all the Doom clone music from the project, do you think you could rework the little E2M1 bit to be less like it? 0 Share this post Link to post
bytebeats Posted December 19, 2015 alright, here's the version that's a little less like e2m1, it's a midi this time so you guys could use it https://www.dropbox.com/s/ye5o1slvc9u4ksq/demondance.mid?dl=0 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted December 19, 2015 I'm really glad you came here, Freedoom's music is pretty weak and yours is excellent. I've got a couple of tracks here that could use work, would you be willing to try remixing them into something better? https://www.dropbox.com/s/rb8yfoj2pxppmj3/sodamidi.zip?dl=0 0 Share this post Link to post
bytebeats Posted December 19, 2015 i'll definitely look into working on those, thanks! here's another track i'm working on: https://soundcloud.com/bytebeats/rip-n-tear/s-PDuLa 0 Share this post Link to post
raymoohawk Posted December 19, 2015 your music is really enjoyable byte :) i look forward to listening it in the game 0 Share this post Link to post
Varis Alpha Posted December 21, 2015 i was able to fix up my track regardless over here with Sekaiju. let me know if it works alright: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yexj9qkrvptdxel/freedoom.mid?dl=0 0 Share this post Link to post
Danfun64 Posted February 28, 2016 I know this happened a few months ago, but why exactly was the old d_ddtblu removed? Does it sound too similar to Doom music, or was there another reason, because I thought it was a beautiful song. 0 Share this post Link to post

Aside from being perhaps slightly homage-y to D_E2M1, I don't think it's in key with the rest of the track, or it doesn't sound it. Great work, though! Please continue to contribute. :D 0 Share this post Link to post

IMO it's horrible unfitting for a project like Freedoom. it doesn't sound like anything you'd find in an FPS, and i'm glad it was changed. 0 Share this post Link to post
bytebeats Posted May 3, 2016 hey fellas. sorry i haven't posted in a while, i've been occupied with life. but i'm planning on churning a lot more tracks for you guys more often this summer! here's a sample i started recently: i plan on calling it "Fear". enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/bytebeats/fear/s-bVn8I 0 Share this post Link to post
bytebeats Posted May 7, 2016 i just finished the new track! you can listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/bytebeats/fear/s-2pRFG?in=bytebeats/sets/freedoom-music/s-E8Pdo here's the MIDI: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/wxiq7wddkwzufe6/fear.mid?dl=0 0 Share this post Link to post
bytebeats Posted May 7, 2016 oh, and sodaholic! i remade one of the tracks you gave me: SEWER.mid. you can listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/bytebeats/sewers-v2/s-2G9Iz here's the MIDI: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/sbbooe7hzdd2cj1/sewersv2.mid?dl=0 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted May 9, 2016 Really nice tracks! Fear is excellent. I like the remix of SEWER.MID and how you extended the intro, but I'm slightly disappointed that you cut the bridge and chorus. Do you think you could remix those parts and extend the song with them? Also, I think the song sounds better with Synth Bass 2 (039) and Electric Piano 2 (005) for the first two channels, and the Electric drumset (024) instead. 0 Share this post Link to post
bytebeats Posted May 10, 2016 thanks! i appreciate your comments, but i'd advise against the change of instruments, however. the change from fretless bass to a synth bass not only sounds overpowering and distracting from the rest of the piece, but it throws off the balance of the piece: part of what made bobby prince's tracks for the original DOOM great was his blend of electronic synths and acoustic elements in his work. not only that, but the change from the piano to the electric piano would do the same. furthermore, the piano adds a sense of mystery to the piece that the electric piano lacks. not to mention the drumkit: although i do like the punch that drum kit has, the change to the electric drumkit would be extremely distracting and take away from the atmosphere of the song. trust me on this: i've done a blind listening test with a couple friends and they've advised against these changes. however, i do agree about the length of the piece. your original track ran for 4 minutes and mine only stops shy of half that amount. i'll see about adding back the original bridge and chorus. after this track, i'll get straight to work on grendel.mid. thanks again! 0 Share this post Link to post
samiam Posted May 28, 2016 There was a ticket about this last year: https://github.com/freedoom/freedoom/issues/156 I think some, but not all, Jute’s tracks make usable level scores. I also think more music contributions will improve FreeDoom even more, but we have enough raw music to have a playable megawad with far fewer duplicated soundtracks than the original Doom or Doom2. 0 Share this post Link to post
Blueworrior Posted June 4, 2016 Hi, I made a few tracks for episode 3 a while back. I'm willing to make more too if needed. I just got done doing map01 for freedoom 2: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=57613335021389494650 I had a ton of fun making these before and I would be more than happy to contribute more to the project! 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted June 4, 2016 Wonderful MAP01 theme! The current one should be moved to another mapslot, preferably replacing one of the poorer quality songs. Yes, please make more if you're willing to. You do good work. P.S. I wonder if we could get some tracks from the Plutonia MIDI pack to be donated to Freedoom. 0 Share this post Link to post
MrFlibble Posted June 6, 2016 Blueworrior, very nice! I like this tune :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Blueworrior Posted June 6, 2016 Thanks! I'll keep making tracks and post them in a separate thread, so as not to clutter this one. This thread, to be exact: https://www.doomworld.com/vb/freedoom/88756-phase-2-music-entries/ 0 Share this post Link to post
