Okay, I've no idea what I'm doing wrong but in map 4 the chaingunners that are supposed to teleport in as part of the yellow key ambush are never released. Playing UV in zdoom 2.8.1, no mods. I tried walking instead of running up the stairs, still nada. Help pls?

Right now it's broken. Hopefully it'll get fixed.

How do you get the BFG secret in map 17?

This wad has been fantastic so far, it's like twid on steroids. Map 32 will give me nightmares.

So I'm at the Exit on Map 29 (the room with the TV and the BFG sitting on a table). I flip a skull switch and the exit alcove opens...but I can't get into it as it's just slightly too short. Did something bug out or am I missing a puzzle element? Also...what is it, because I'm stumped?

By the way, this megawad is fantastic. I've loved it from the very first map.

Spoiler

I dunno if there's a secret way to bypass it (probably not), but the default way to finish the map is to rocket yourself into the exit and drop all your stuff before the grand finale.

Thanks man! I'm still pretty new to Doom wads so when I saw all the rockets I thought it might have something to do with blasting myself inside through some kind of damage exploit but then was like "Naaaah, it can't be that."

You cross the finish line being dead.
Map complete, and next map you start like new :)

Been playing in Chocolate in HNTR.

There's a crash in maps 10 and 11.

It says 'R_DrawSpriteRange: bad texturecolumn'.

It seems that at some point, vanilla support was removed. Ther's a bummer, but I get that vanilla is hard to work with. However, the WAD is still listed as vanilla compatible in the IDGames release rather than as requiring a limit removing source port.

As far as i know, vanilla compatibility wasn't droped out.
there is a bex format dehacked patch but thats because maps names are too large.
I don't know why the dehacked patches i made weren't included on the last release, but well, if you search on the thread, you can find them, too.

Aside from that, I just played both, map10 didn't crashed for me and i maxed it.

map11 did crash with P_PlayerInSpecialSector: unknown special -32576 on the southeast area after raising the plataforms from the lava and after the kinda star shaped floor goes down.
There seems to be a problem in this area as on subsequents test it crashed with different tags (P_PlayerInSpecialSector: unknown special 514 and P_PlayerInSpecialSector: unknown special 12079)
And other times it didn't crashed at all.
i think is the amount of plataforms moving at the same time, as three times it crashed, i was making it pretty fast and the plataforms didn't get down before i activated the switch after the starshaped floor.

Do note that, no matter what, you will not be able to complete this mapset on vanilla, map30 is meant to crash for vanilla, and it is designed that way.

What difficulty did you play in?

I know, I read the .txt. I never got to map 30 myself to experience just how ugly the Icon of Sin is in this WAD.

the same as you, HNTR, and then tested it on HMP and UV to be sure.
On map10 in what area do you have the crash?

Shouldn't be any difference on difficulty settings as they only change the monsters amount and decoration that is made of sprites on the map.

What version of Chocolate did you use? I used 3.0.1, the latest.

I thought the difficulty settings would matter since the error message I got involved sprites.

Not sure if I need to set Chocolate Doom to a specific game version.

Different versions of Doom 1.9 exist. Chocolate Doom attempts to emulate all of these versions. The "-gameversion" command line parameter allows the version to emulate to be specified on the command line.

https://www.chocolate-doom.org/wiki/index.php/Compatibility

Chocolate Doom supports:

- OG registered Doom 1/2 1.9

- retail Ultimate Doom 1 1.9

- Final Doom

Bottom right of the map, when I approach the chaingunner and shotgunners.

it doesn't need any of that, just run without any -gameversion parameter.

on the little area isolated from the map that you are teleported when you try to grab the blue key?

Oh, because I didn't run Chocolate Doom with -gameversion.

No, in the start of the map when I approach the chaingunner and 2 shotgunners.

At that point, it crashes with a texture column error or some shite.

map10 doesn't have chaingunner and shotgunners at the start of the map.

maybe you are talking about map11?

aside from that, just to be sure, you are using the version of the wad called ''SpainIDGames.wad'', right?

Need to figure out what the heck is causing this, also there's a soft lock in Map 6 and the fact that Map 4 can't be 100%ed that will eventually need to be patched.

No, I'm using this.

If SpainIDGames is not the version that's actually currently in the IDGames link, then I never knew about it.

EDIT: Checked the MD5 hash of the D2ISO.wad I have and it's not the same MD5 has as the SpainIDGames.wad in WadArchive.

EDIT 2: Just replaced my D2ISO WAD with the SpainIDGames WAD and now it no longer crashes. When was this SpainIDGames version made? It's not in IDGames' incoming section or in IDGames itself.

In what area map10 crash for you?

At the bottom of the map, after I ignore the map exit and see the zombies in the pink room.

It still crashes with the same texture column sprite error as in map 11.

Edited by Nikku4211 : Update on WAD replacement.

It's a lowering sector that changes his texture? If that's the case, activating it multiple times should fix the issue (the same happened on my Ray Mohawk 2 map, after the boat sequence - I pushed the doll through multiple lines and the crash vanished)

It crashed again. This time, in map 13, right when the map started, after I barely even got a chance to move.

This is after I replaced my WAD with the SpainIDGames version.

It crashed with the same texture column message as before.

What's with these texture column crashes?

strange, i downloaded from this link in here:
https://www.doomworld.com/forum/post/2314431

It is the same link, albeit i downloaded it quite some time ago, and probably it was updated on a later date, so the one you have ''d2iso.wad'' is the latest release.

No pressure, shits happends so better found this now and not left it this way for the next 25 years

:P

Strange that i didn't found this bugs while testing on the original doom2.exe back then... maybe i patched it with doom32.exe before testing? uhh, times is hazy

:/

Will test again on the original doom2.exe when you make the new patch so we get sure this time there is no bugs on it.

;)

Probably your largest output to date on a whole megawad.
Seeing the joke names i thought there would be even much more variety of map authors.
BUt you also did maps of various of the joke names hahaha.

Glad you found the time to fix it, and hope nothing else appear on the mean time.
