destx Posted July 3, 2009 Raven made a the-story-so-far video for the new Wolfenstein game (at least I think that's what it is). It's pretty cheesy and doesn't get started until about 1:25, but it's pretty cool after that. I guess this kinda makes up for Hitler not being in the new game, the art style is really nice too. You can watch it in HD here. Just try not to read the comments. P.S. "Motion comic" ...what? 0 Share this post Link to post
chungy Posted July 3, 2009 That is pretty umm... wtf Needs more Doom Comic style. 0 Share this post Link to post
Maes Posted July 3, 2009 Where a Sin City wannabe cinematic meets the Doom Comic...OK, whatever. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted July 3, 2009 Actually, it's based on contemporary propaganda imagery and comic art style. 0 Share this post Link to post
Maes Posted July 3, 2009 I have a collection of WWII propaganda posters and only Soviet ones look anything like this. By stretching it you could even call it Soviet Neorealist in style. The black & red style is clearly influenced by Sin City however, or from contemporary comic books anyway. 0 Share this post Link to post

kristus Posted July 3, 2009 Well. if you want to be particular. The art style used here is most likely drawn from Brute propaganda (Aidan Hughes) which is in turn crediting his source of inspiration from among others, russian propaganda. Even the style of the animation can be seen used in the KMFDM videos A drug against War and Son of a gun, which are made using artwork by Aidan. The style btw, seem to have originated from Agitprop Yeah, it's not German, allied or even truly contemporary propaganda style. But Wolfenstein is hardly about historical accuracy so that's a moot point. They used a more modern version of the style to connect more with people today. Or so I assume. EDIT: Oh yeah, and if you check out Chinese propaganda, you should see more closely resembling this style: http://walledoff.com/files/images/please%20hammer%20dont%20hurt%20em.preview.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2152/2417052036_f4e3e5a934.jpg http://astrochimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/02/0042-001M.jpg destx said:I think that calling this Doom-related would be a bit of a stretch, though I'm not sure what the guidelines are. Sharessa Posted July 3, 2009 Yeah, that definitely reminded me of A Drug Against War. 0 Share this post Link to post
Maes Posted July 3, 2009 Chinese propaganda = Soviet propaganda, like many other aspects of their culture that were influenced by the early days of the People's Party. You can even find clear influence of this style in contemporary North Korean propaganda http://calitreview.com/images/ess_north_korean_134.jpg http://www.nikopopp.com/NorthKoreanPropaganda/NorthKoreanPropaganda3.jpg http://daryldean.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/dprk_1.jpg http://www.cynical-c.com/archives/bloggraphics/360343555_a021bd8edc.jpg 0 Share this post Link to post
Craigs Posted July 3, 2009 I don't remember Hitler being that easy to kill. 0 Share this post Link to post
Vermil Posted July 3, 2009 ID did actually make Hitler, once out of his suit, die in a couple of bullets in the Jaguar version. 0 Share this post Link to post
chungy Posted July 3, 2009 kristus said:It's official Id Software news. Even that is a stretch, since it's a Raven game, they've simply licensed the Wolfenstein title. (OK, this is an oversimplification, id Software has been overseeing the development of the game, but still, it's a Raven, not id, game) 0 Share this post Link to post

Bank Posted July 3, 2009 Too bad this is as close to the original Wolfenstein story we'll get before the new culty sci-fi bullshit. 0 Share this post Link to post

Observe: NO NECK I almost didn't recognize Hans in the video without his armor. Or his hair for that matter. If they hadn't said his name, I wouldn't have even have known who he was supposed to be. 0 Share this post Link to post

Torn Posted July 5, 2009 I really liked the style of this video. I think the first one and half minutes were pretty cool. then it really went downhill from there... :/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Quasar Posted July 5, 2009 I liked it; a stylish adaptation of the original story. Yes it takes some liberties, but what adaptations do not? Seems to me that a lot of people have their minds made up to hate anything Wolfenstein-related from here on out. 0 Share this post Link to post
