Jimmy Posted April 8, 2011 Jimmy has been hard at work over the last few months composing a new original MIDI soundtrack for Thomas van der Velden's amazing independent ZDoom-based game project Harmony (with Thomas's permission). Today he has released the unofficial Harmony MIDI pack, a selection of fourteen brand-new tracks composed specifically for replacing the game's somewhat unvaried soundtrack. The pack comes with a WAD file that modifies the game's MAPINFO lump to allow the game to be played with the new MIDIs. Download the pack here. You will need Harmony v1.1 (the IWAD version that ZDoom recognizes) to run it. 1 Share this post Link to post
Phml Posted April 8, 2011 Great news. You didn't include a .txt in the pack, so I was wondering if you would allow reuse of these MIDIs in other wads. 0 Share this post Link to post
Arch-Valentine Posted April 8, 2011 Excuse me for being retarded but I get this when trying to load up the music wad am I doing something wrong? "Script error, "HarmonyMIDIPack.wad:MAPINFO" line 28: gameinfo: Unknown top level keyword" 0 Share this post Link to post
hervoheebo Posted April 8, 2011 For a second I thought this news item was related to that fad of a flash game... thank god 0 Share this post Link to post

The gameinfo block in MAPINFO has been around for a while. 0 Share this post Link to post
Arch-Valentine Posted April 8, 2011 Yeah, I made the mistake of trying the music wad with the Harmony.exe. Seems to work fine with just using Zdoom. My bad :( 0 Share this post Link to post

By all means go ahead. :) (Incidentally, I've added some copyright info to the MIDIs themselves, forbidding the alteration and redistribution of them without prior consent, but this is mainly to stop people potentially claiming them as their own. Reuse in WADs, however, is perfectly fine. :P) 0 Share this post Link to post
Scuba Steve Posted April 8, 2011 This really needs to be implemented to work properly with the harmony exe. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jimmy Posted April 8, 2011 Okay, I uploaded what should hopefully be an EXE-compatible version of the WAD. http://jimmy.phenomer.net/wad-files/HarmonyMIDIPack.wad Still, the Harmony EXE is an outdated version of ZDoom and I find it a lot easier to load it as an IWAD with the ZDoom EXE instead. 0 Share this post Link to post
zap610 Posted April 9, 2011 Some of these songs are really fucking great. I can't stop listening to them. 0 Share this post Link to post
KwadDamyj Posted April 9, 2011 Somehow I find this considerably more fitting than the original songs, partly due to the retro factor of using MIDIs. Good stuff! 0 Share this post Link to post
SyntherAugustus Posted April 10, 2011 The midis make this a lot more enjoyable to play. 0 Share this post Link to post
