VGA Posted November 7, 2014 lol I've alt-tabbed a few times and now I can't use Tab to open the automap :-D EDIT: Had to press Alt to get it unstuck. 0 Share this post Link to post

VGA Posted November 9, 2014 Goddamnit, how do I turn off infinitely tall actors? Can't find the corresponding option in the Compatibility settings. 0 Share this post Link to post
ReFracture Posted November 9, 2014 The closest you'll find is an option to be able to run under decorations on ceilings, but that's it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Andrea Rovenski Posted November 17, 2014 How do I set the default window position to stay when the game launches? Like, it will always launch in the middle of the screen, and I would prefer top left or bottom right, without having to manually drag the window each time. 0 Share this post Link to post

Andrea Rovenski Posted December 14, 2014 I'm having problems with vertical mouse movement. Sometimes it is just disabled, and sometimes it works fine. Regardless of my settings, and without changing them. 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted December 14, 2014 Do you mean freelook? There's a button to toggle it on and off, maybe you're pressing it accidentally. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dave The Daring Posted December 14, 2014 No, I think he means moving backwards and forwards using the mouse. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted December 20, 2014 joe-ilya said:Is this fixed? http://i.imgur.com/82GrVll.png Are you talking about the overlay automap? It's a feature that can be toggled by a key while you're in the automap mode. The key is "O" (it's a letter o, not a zero) in my PrBoom+, but I'm not sure if it's the default binding. 0 Share this post Link to post

It messes the hud up if I start running it without the hud when I use it again after adjusting the hud. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted December 20, 2014 Lol, I haven't even looked at the HUD. Sorry. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Breezeep Posted January 19, 2015 I may sound a bit dumb, but is there a way to enable the secret found sound and message? (like in zdoom?) 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted January 19, 2015 Well according to an old threadAdditional HUD settings are available here: Main Menu\Options\Setup\Status Bar / HUD (on last page) ADVANCED HUD SETTINGS ; HUD settings Secret Areas ; Display on-screen message and play sound when a secret is registered 0 Share this post Link to post
TendaMonsta Posted February 1, 2015 Is there any possible way to disable the atrocious mechanic that is Random Damage Spread? I want to get back into recording demos, but this is the most frustrating thing to deal with and makes zero sense as a game mechanic. 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted February 1, 2015 No, Dungeons & Dragons-esque randomized damage values are an core part of Doom. I mean, you could hack the source to change everything to fixed average values, but any demos recorded that way wouldn't be accepted by anyone. 0 Share this post Link to post
TendaMonsta Posted February 1, 2015 It's more for personal experimentation. 0 Share this post Link to post

[Random Damage Spread] is the most frustrating thing to deal with and makes zero sense as a game mechanic. I'm comfortable with it. Everybody who plays Doom seems to be. It adds a little unpredictability (and therefore replayability) to the game - that said, the game is still very predictable and repetitive with its default behaviour. Also, as Linguica said, this is something that a standard user (not source port creator) cannot influence. 0 Share this post Link to post

It's one of the biggest reasons that diminished replayability for me (of course DOOM is still an addictive psychoactive substance, and it's got me hooked), but it is quite possibly the dumbest thing to ever be implemented in any video game. 0 Share this post Link to post
