While it's not requirement to love the blues, I think anyone who like Rock or Metal should at least appreciate the Blues. After all it was the Blues that gave birth to rock and roll. It's pretty safe to say that if it was not for guys like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Elmore James we wouldn't have rock or metal.
