Eagle Speedmapping Session 2 - King Double!
NecrumWarrior replied to NaZa's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I can't make any fixes til tomorrow so you're welcome to play with their placement or just replace them if they just don't work. I thought I gave them just enough space. Mmmmm, that feels good... -

I'll give everyone's maps a try tomorrow. I've had a splitting headache pretty much since I got back home. Maybe by the time I get off work the build will be up. -

@everennui thanks for the feedback! I did abuse the copypasta, yeah. I had sort of a slow start as I wasnt feeling the inspiration at first, but once I had an idea I just ran with it. I would have liked to have done more with the holes to hell, and maybe I'll rip off that idea for a map at a later time. I finished in the allotted time and didn't just vomit things all over my map though so I'm happy. -

https://www.dropbox.com/s/wo06d97fqvwoiev/Derivatives.wad?dl=0 Map Name: Derivatives Build Time: 3 hours Theme: Twisted Base (E2) Midi: March of the Fire Ants by Mastodon. Included in WAD as D_RUNNIN. I was able to finish the map so it is playable and has enough resources, perhaps even to many since I was the balancing factor, to kill all demons. I am much happier with this map than last month's entry, though it's certainly no masterpiece. -

That should be the name of your speedmap. -

I'm excited to see what maps are made. I'm too tired to work on this one unfortunately but I'll be able to do the one in 12 hours. -

Basically that the theme is to make maps like the original Doom's episodes. -
Final Doom seemed more akin to an expansion pack to me, even though technically that isn't true.

I assume 40 minutes remain. I could be wrong on my estimation though. -
The Red Key just gets you a bonus Plasma Rifle. Not really anything that's super important yet.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my review that I hate the music in MAP03. Music in the first two maps was cool though.

Good news! I don't work tomorrow. -
Hitscan snipers have barely been an issue for me and I am also playing on Hurt Me Plenty. And when they are it's usually the Shotgunners that bother me. But that aside, you know what else has a lot of Chaingunners and Revenants? Plutonia. The very IWAD this set is meant to emulate. Me personally, I prefer all these Revenants over the ridiculous Arch-Vile population of last month's megawad. I also don't think that 2 maps is a fair sampling to judge the set. This WAD was made over a fairly long period, so the quality is bound to fluctuate based on riderr's progressing skills as a mapper. The funny thing is, I think MAP03 has really good monster usage and some interesting battle setups compared to the first two. So maybe you should give it a try, @ella guro.

I mostly listen to music when I need inspiration for anything creative. Again the Doom 2016 soundtrack is a good place to start, and it's freely available to listen to on YouTube. Otherwise I usually listen to thrash metal or prog rock.
