    Doom 2: The Way We Remember It (Release v8)

    played until map 07, i laughed so hard hahahahahaah i really needed this, it was a long time since i wanted to replay doom2 and this was the perfect opportunity. BY THE WAY is it normal that the spiders didn't triggr the exit in map 07? i got completely stuck and couldnt finish it. THE CRUSHER: i hated the freaking strafejump to press that switch ahahahahah, so much nonsense there. Love this project, will press on and tell you whatever comes to my mind

    Ok mate, please don't take this too badly, it's just my personal thought and must be treated as such. I decided to play the map again ( i recorded it too but i dont know if iwant to share the video this time). I ll try to remember everything i can: 1st room: the floors all work twice, even the ones that are not spawning archies anymore (minor issue but it should be polished) 3rd fight: i can't undestand the point of the baron and hks before grabbing the key since no enemy spawns before you get the key. archvile fight, it took me forever to finally understand how it worked, i liked the "switches for dummies" section, but i think you just found the dumbest of all cause when the timer finally started i couldnt understan how to show the switches again, i just couldnt lol, so i basically killed everything without doing the puzzle switch and then, only then, i noticed that by pressing the blue one they lower just for a while. I would say this is my fault and i feel stupid, but it is what it is. Then mmm what can i say, maybe because i was a bit tired i started playing in a different mood, this change of pace is weird in a map, when i go with a mindset i cannot switch it (in doom i mean), and then basically i was drown out and the "maze" endless switch hunt started, i chose blue first, it was almost "fun" at the beginning, but then it went on and on an on an on an on an on FOREVER, i couldn't stand it anymore, and it was so repetitive... an nothing, it was dinner time and i decided to eat some meat with artichokes and quit the map again. Feels too much, too many "maps" in one in my opinion. The maze area should be a totally different map. I liked the Mastermind shoot cyber infight, that was tricky and i loved it. But the corridors? I would have probably enjoyed it as map 16, after a coffee break. But not on a blind run while i am recording (and btw this map is still, in my opinion not blind run friendly at all). Sorry as usual! Let's just wait for the other people i guess :)

    mate to be a second map it is an awesome one. Embarassed for what? You are doing a great job both in mapping and in listening :) I will definetely play next version.

    i really like the fact that you are constantly updating this map, this means that you're actually giving people's feedback a lot of importance. Tons of mappers here ask for advices and then don't fix anything always thinking they are right somehow, like if we were just saying things to be mean :) This is the best approach you can have in order to improve, hands down. I will play this again soon, good job mate

    Thanks a lot mate, i enjoyed the map quite a lot, what i pointed out wasn't really a mistake but just a minor thing that maybe could change it and make it even better :) I am always glad when i see your maps, count on me if you need any playtesting ;) I will try to map again in the future of course, an thanks for the kind words

    If the fights are too easy or too hard itìs not for us to judge, it depends on the megawad itself and what it demands. I think, for instance, that if you want to make think a bit harder you should avoid the possibility to backtrack in the caco fight, because if you designed it to be in that spot it should be in that spot. The archvile area is another thing, not everyone save every 5 minutes, some people tend to save midfight if they feel safe, and i felt safe in that situation. It was obvious that i needed to do something else to proceed, it was less obvious that there was going to be an unescapable instadeath situation in a handful of seconds, at least for me :)

    I feel sorry now that i didn't try the last fight, but what you said was more or less my point of view. The gimmick was too much, especially since i am in the mindset of a "slaughterish" map, i just couldn't understand and found myself stuck in a save with multiple archviles spawning behind me 1 second after i saved, and for no apparent reason. That's why i decided to quit. I mean... it couldn't be categorized as trap since i didn't do anything (that i know) to trigger it, and so i felt safe and saved and ruined the run. First fight was probably the best, but i couldn't see the last, maybe i will try it again once the megawad is done :)

    I ll give my personal 2 cents and then i will post the video (which is not complete cause i didn't finish the map). I think that is not a real slaughter map first of all. the first pinkies arena was the best one, cause you had to think it well and kill them without moving too much in order to avoid the telearchies. Second arena was cheese. Third area was also cheese. Fourth arena was cheese again with a little twist because of the pain elementals. The whole "i'll try to replicate a ribbiks gimmick with a new idea but i am not really sure if that's going to work well" didn't work well, for me at least. You will see what i mean in the video that i am uploading now. Sorry i don't want to be harsh, it's just that i feel like this wasn't a well done slaughter map (at least up until my ragequit point), i hope that you will accept my critiques and maybe give me a solution to that, cause probably i was just stupid :) The graphics and the architecture and the overall estetics were awesome! SUPERFAST EDIT: i just saw that you mentioned in the description that the map has slaughter elements, ok that changes a lot :) sorry for that. Still... i am not sure about how it turned out :)

First i coulnd t see anything becauseof the settings and after modifying them i still couldnt ahhah, and so i spent time to understand where to go, and the that corridor was so narrow i felt stupid, it's like putting a strange item in your ass and going to the hospital for it you know? Soulsphere was pure genius
