A nice bit of slaughter to wake you up in the morning...

I've never been too good at reviews but I really did enjoy this WAD! I was never too big on slaughtermaps but these were very fun to run around in (and also die a lot in). This wad also did make me realize the power small maps can have, you don't need something too big and grand for it to be fun and I felt a bit of inspiration fly around in my head while I was getting ripped limb from limb in MAP06.

Some screenshots I took while playing:

MAP04 was tough for me, I did manage to get through it. This map and MAP05 did make me realize that slaughtermaps are also puzzle maps in a way, in the sense that the puzzle is based on which routes to take to survive.

MAP06 was beautiful but I would be lying if I said this part didn't make me fear for the worse.

Simply a wonderful WAD, I had a ton of fun playing it. Sorry for the mistake earlier though, honestly I need to stop assuming all WADs are made using the DOOM II IWAD.

Huge AT fan, gotta check this out. AT Doom when?

If someone works out a gameplay mod for that I'd definitely make some levels for it.

Thanks for the kind words! Nice screens as well. And no worries about the mistakes, I'm glad you thought to try and tell me of the mistake :)

You need to play it with plutonia.

Oh yep, I was aware! Not trying to dogpile on your wad, I just really liked the extremely cursed guy generated by that screenshot.

I love plutonia mapsets, this looks cool!

Just finished maps 01 and 02 and love them both!

Here's a little thing in map02, the midtex goes through the floor, just touch the brightness level in the other sector, and it'll get chopped right.

Finished this today. A charming little mapset whose cute title hides its viciousness. Maps 5 and 6 are particularly brutal! Good stuff.

Very cool little set of maps. I'm a fan of the short and punchy style, and the combat is well done overall without being impossible. The last 2 maps are certainly tough, but I was able to manage the rest without excessive trouble. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick set built loosely in the Plutonic style.

Spoiler

-Map 2's opening area is a bit of a safe haven except when there's hitscan. Being able to run around that tall mancubus platform is maybe a bit too lenient in a map that does a really nice job of being a pressure cooker everywhere else. I had like 14 health when I finished and prayed the last monster wasn't an archvile, but cutting off the outer edge around that platform would make the start considerably more tricky since you'd have to double back rather than circle against the revenants, or else jump down early.

-In map 4, it's fairly easy to jump over the side of the stairs into the void. There are teleporters which makes me think it's intended or at least known about, but it's a fairly massive cheese since there aren't any hurtfloors down there. You can use the cyberdemon to infight everything and sometimes even kill him pacifist, and the cacodemons are fairly easy pickings with the huge area to move. You can even take care of the revenants from around back. Frankly it's way more consistent than running around and face rocketing 400 enemies to death, but in a map that's absolutely brutal and forces a struggle for survival, cruising the perimeter for 6 minutes seems like it shouldn't work better than the straightforward strat.

Thanks for the feed back! I did have hurtfloors on map 4 but I think I ctrl-z'd them out of existence at some point. I'll fix that up soon.

If you have two sectors with the same height, brightness and flat, and what not, and there's a midtex like the vines, the bsp won't split the seg. Because they're too similar. So you'll have the midtex bleed through the floor like this. But if you nudge the brightness a tiny amount, it'll see the sectors are different and split them - which cuts the midtex, as it's supposed to.

I learned this trick from Xaser, it's really neat

This saddles the line between kind of adorable and deeply horrifying - as all the best Jake forms do!

Congrats on the release, I remember playing map05 and 06 a while back and liking them so it's nice to see them in a larger wad.

On map04 it's pretty easy to skip the line that reveals the cyber when running down the stairs into the central area. It's still possible to trigger it later so it doesn't break the map but it definitely creates an unintended variant of the fight. Still it's a really fun map.
