People who hate "nu-metal" and "rap-metal" are just jumping on the bandwagon. I like a lot of music that you people probably hold sacred, and yet I like a lot of "nu-metal", too. Linkin Park is very original; find another band, EVER, that sounds like they do. I've been listening to them for a few years, since they were on MP3.com and called themselves Hybrid Theory. And Slipknot...well, they're not great but they're mediocre, at least. They're good BGM.

One of the so-called 'nu-metal' bands is, in my opinion, one of the most talented acts, musically, to come along in a very long time. System of a Down. They're very original, and have a very unique sound (at least here in the States).

Methods of Mayhem is another band that catches a lot of flak, mostly just because they have Tommy Lee for a frontman, but I really like them a lot. They're really not bad.

Disturbed I like because they combine a heavy percussive line with mediocre metal, to create a rhythm-heavy metal sound. They're not just awesome either, but like Slipknot, they have their appeal. Disturbed's lyrics are at least more coherent than Slipknot's.

Crazy Town...eh. I, once again, have been listening to them long before they ever had a CD out, and...well, I dunno. I like them. What can I say that I haven't already said?

Papa Roach and P.O.D. I haven't listened to, so...gyeh.

Basically, my point is, just because someone was on MTV, it doesn't mean they suck.

Disturbed had a cool live show. I went to see Danzig and they opened for him (never heard of them before then). And they also kicked Danzig's ass :)

Of course, I got home and downloaded some MP3s and thought "bleh"...

I hear Linkin Park is really unique in the technical aspect. Some guy was yabbering about how their song structures are quite original, and he's near impossible to impress so I'll have to listen to some of their tunes soon and make a final judgement.

Recently I changed my perscpective about music. Now I'm really open minded to all kinds of it and I won't get pissed if you say you hate some band that I love. There is a difference between saying you don't like them and cracking on them though. If you think a band sucks just say you don't like em, it will prevent many flamewars.

My favorite bands are slayer, pantera, linkin park, slipknot, the haunted, nirvana, and whatever else that sounds good.

I have a hate for Sum 41 because they had the audacity to announce that Tool sucks at EndFest...WTF...Tool is one of the best and most well established bands ever. How dare some crappy upstarts start dissing them. Tool...now that was one fucking awesome concert. Almost as good as NIN...almost.

I can listen to any music that I like and that's the best way I can say it, truth be told.

On an average day I listen to everything from Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues to Slipknot and Strapping Young Lad and everything in between.

See, I can crank up Spineshank: Height of Callousness and fucking rock to it while I'm doing whatever. I put on Mudvayne: LD 50 and it just sounds so bad I'm practically paralyzed... just irritated and tempted to dropkick my stereo.

I really want to hear more The Color Red and Craving Theo but those bands are fucking hard as hell to get a hold of in my area, sadly.

Linkin Park is kinda okay, I like 3 or 4 songs off of the Hybrid Theory album but I haven't heard anything other than that album so I'm probably not qualified to make a broad, sweeping statement about how much cock they suck or anything. I still like 'em for some damn reason.

Music is a fucking annoying topic of discussion because everyone has their own bullshit reasonings behind why every band either sucks or rules, and 99% of them don't involve the actual MUSIC and whether or not you actually like listening to it.

You'll still have to physically restrain me if you try to make me listen to Smashing Pumpkins or At The Drive In.

Oh here we go, the old music debate. A debate that will last until the collapse of time, and one that I am totally sick of.

As far as it goes, about 99.999999% of all assholes that are intelligent enough to use a CD player insist on using their own opinions as a triedandtested GOSPEL TRUTH method to determine a song's quality.

Well, there's a way of seperating truth from opinion. Yes there is. Let me reel of a few of my favourite bands of late:

And of those, you know, the only ones I'd say were good are Black Sabbath and Devin Townsend. That's speaking about the music. Rob Zombie, SOAD and Nine Inch Nails are bordering, although both of them have glaring flaws, musically.

However, I like ALL of those. I'm not an ignorant motherfucker that won't let people have an opinion, but that's exactly the point: Stop calling your opinion a fact by branding your favourite bands as the 'best'.
