To be honest I'd completely forgotten that this map (and its second part) even existed, much less won a Cacoward: apparently the maps came out to not much fanfare and might've been forgotten completely if it wasn't for the keen eyes of the Cacoward committee. Having played parts 1 and 2, I can confidently say that I'm thankful they did so.

I am kind of curious as to what Didy's inspirations were going into this map: the sheer amount of interconnectivity and intelligent space usage put me in mind somewhat of Espi's mapping style, but with enough of a unique spin (as well as a delightful amount of Doomcute) to be realized as something unique. Encounters can get a little hairy but aren't too stressful and the grungy atmosphere is incredibly well-realized with the aid of some excellent texture work. I also just gotta shout out all the Doomcute going on like the fireball assembly line and the way the map exits. The random Arch-Vile fire(s?) were a bit odd, heh.

I wouldn't say that the map is perfect though and I do have my criticisms. "A little hairy" is pretty much as difficult as things get and it never feels like you're challenged overmuch throughout, with Didy dropping soulspheres in the main progression path a puzzling number of times. There are also a couple of points of no return, which I'm generally less than fond of: I'm more of an explorer than a battler and it always irks me when I try to ferret out secrets after everything's dead only to come up against a brick wall. I did ultimately come away from the map satisfied though, so it's obvious that these criticisms didn't detract too much from my overall enjoyment.

Overall, really good stuff! Definitely worth checking out.

I love it. Somebody could find it chaotic and confusing, but I didn't have problems to find the way. Best map I have played in a while. 5/5 - Damned

It was alright. Detail was amazing, but the game-play sucked balls. It was really easy to get lost in this maze. 2/5

Okay, this is certainly awesome when it comes to overall architecture, but it sucks when it comes to gameplay. The excessive connectivity and over the top detailing confuses you a lot and you have to wander around looking for the next trigger so that you can progress. In the end I became quite bored with this level. There are is also at least one place where you can get stuck.

For a almost 5 minutes I was trying to figure out how to get to a fenced off area. I thought I had missed something. So I used the "noclip" cheat to check it out. As it turns out I wasn't meant to be in that area at all, no wonder. You see, rather than getting away with just placing opaque walls along the map, like many map-makers, these guys instead made entire areas beyond your reach simply for aesthetics and that's just awesome! I love the whole nighttime industrial vibe too, great work!

Completed with Brutal Doom 1.9 in Zandronum. No bugs/problems noticed. Despite using many existing assets, Didy managed to give Monster Hunter Ltd an unique look of its own. STRONGLY recommended - MN

Didy has never released a bad map, and he certainly hasn't started with this one. You should play it. The pace is a little slow, but the atmosphere is good. Not much challenge (ammo/health balance is not at all tight), but it's a very enjoyable map to play, especially if you aren't trying to rush through it. I'm not sure if I used the intended route at one point - maybe I skipped a section with a bit of ledge running.

Future mapmakers should take note of this. However, the gameplay difficulty is a bit poor even in UV. 4.5/5

Woooow, super cool! Very elaborate and interesting new setting, amazing complex layout, lots of nifty little details everywhere like the aquarium, fireball processing, ect. And even a bit of a story. Didy at his finest basically.

A fun idea, a fun execution, and even more fun gameplay. Wonderful. A must play.

Great WAD, solidly nails that fantasy castle crawling feeling, not too rough on the player nor overly stingy/generous on supplies, encourages good use of items, plenty of navigation and switch puzzles as is apt for Heretic, but also lets loose with a little slaughter.   Some areas could use slightly brighter lighting, and sometimes the next switch or door isn't signalled too well, but overall a fun and feisty fantasy fight fest.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.
