NiGHTS108 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) 10 Line Genocide is a Boom compatible speedmapping project requiring a UMAPINFO port, initially conceived as a parody of the 100 Line Massacre series on a Twitch livestream, but quickly ballooned into a massive undertaking of over 100 mappers making 230 maps across 5 distinct, increasingly difficult episodes. As the name implies, each map was restricted to only 10 linedefs each. A community project as restricted yet accessible as this resulted in an absolute cavalcade of micro speedmaps, all in less linedefs than Knee-Deep In The Dead. Probably. In more specific regards to compatibility, it's worth noting this wad was made specifically with DSDA-Doom in mind. Although it should be functional enough in a port like GZDoom, DSDA is advised and any bugs specific to ports that aren't DSDA will not be prioritised to fix. Almost all of these maps were completed within roughly a week, and the only hard rule of this project was that maps keep to less than 10 linedefs, therefore, most aren't balanced for difficulties or multiplayer. The purpose was mainly to see what could be done in a map with as restrictive of a boundary as 10 linedefs, so try not to take it TOO seriously or expect a very balanced difficulty curve at all times. Beware, some of the last episode or two can get pretty slaughter-y. As a whole however there is a rich variety of difficulty across all 5 episodes of 46 maps each, so anyone should be able to enjoy this community project. Most maps aren't technically impossible but as stated it is made considerably harder a lot of the time - In ZDoom based ports, specifically GZDoom, the transition from MAP30 to MAP31 doesn't work correctly, so you can't play continuously but you can type idclev31 to play the rest of the wad as normal. I've tried making a ZMAPINFO that just exists to send MAP30 to MAP31, which does work but unfortunately overrides the UMAPINFO. I'm not sure if there's a solution without just remaking every UMAPINFO as an additional ZMAPINFO, tell me if you think of anything. - There may be errors with rendering on Woof that don't happen on DSDA-Doom past E1M29. Although DSDA is the intended port, I do want this wad to ideally be as accessible as possible so I will be investigating. RC2.1 (02/09/2023, 7:30 PM) - Okay. THIS time I fixed the problem with the intercept overflows and blockmaps or whatever. Now every map should at least be perfectly functional. - E1M10, E1M28 and E4M26 has received updates from their mappers. - Node related errors in E1M10 and E1M29 have been fixed. - Bugs in E1M21 and E1M29 have been fixed. - Fixed E4M27's special Dead Simple tag 666/667 effects not being assigned to that map on accident. - Fixed E4M36 crashing the game due to "no nodes in level". - E5M37 has been considerably edited to avoid collision errors. The map currently still doesn't function perfectly but I believe it is at least partly intentional and the map should at least be beatable now. - An error that made E5M45 unbeatable has been fixed. - Minor errors in Miniddo, including a softlock and one that lets you beat the stage early, have also been fixed. - There's a new border around the hud for if you're not playing on widescreen, although since this replaces the GRNROCK flat, I'm not sure if it has any knock-on effects on any maps. I honestly have no idea what caused these all ghosts effects to happen, I can only assume a difference in nodebuilders or Doom map editors? Unsure. Maps were fixed without changing them, somehow moving one vertice to a different spot and then back to the original and testing the map did the trick, which is why I assume something was up with the nodebuilds.
