Seems a little bit of a ridiculous goal even for a highly accurate TC. Just my two cents. Believe it or not there are people who like to sit and stare at their games instead of actually playing them. 0 Share this post Link to post
Erick194 Posted August 20, 2017 Sure you might be right that this is not gonna be 100% accurate but, it wasn't me the one who was worried about the status bar and its famous black bar but I like how it looks using both ways anyway, besides I was waiting for Blastfrog's reply which he hasn't replied yet because he came with the idea about the "fixing" of the status bar.. anyway, I thank him for worrying about this. Well, I'm still working on in my projects which have taken me many efford, here I show you a video of Doom 64 [GEC] Master Edition's intro with new funtions for the engine! Hope you like it! :) 2 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted September 12, 2017 Is that a demo loop? Also I see the custom credits mention Samuel Villareal for programming, James Haley for additional code, Simon Howard for network system... 0 Share this post Link to post

Yes, this is a demo loop, besides this is customizable, you can also create diverse PSX Doom/Final Doom, and Doom 64 demo style sequences 21 hours ago, Quasar said: Sounds like the credit screen from Doom 64 EX. This is the image taken from Doom 64 EX because it is a conversion of Doom 64 EX to Doom 64 M.E. for a modified GZDoom. this was just to respect the Doom 64 EX credits, maybe it will be modified later, though. Thanks for posting, Quasar. By the way, what do you think about the PSX DOOM status black bar? Greetings to Gez and Quasar. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Nevander Posted November 4, 2017 Maybe he typo'd. The "d" is right beside "s" 0 Share this post Link to post
CoTeCiO Posted November 5, 2017 Or he just assumed. Unfortunately there is a tendency that when people stop posting progress on their projects, it means it was abandoned. It has happened a million times before around here. It's good to know you're still working on it! 1 Share this post Link to post
CoTeCiO Posted November 21, 2017 I will add my two cents respecting the famous black bar at the bottom. Being completely technical, that black bar is in fact present in the PSX version when played on a console and was added with the only intention of compensating the CRT TVs overscan and making the status bar completely visible, but it was not meant to be seen. In fact, If I'm not wrong, when played on a console, there are also vertical black bars for the same purpose. Now, this would be my own approach, but I would remove it since it is completely unnecessary on a computer monitor because there is no overscan and it gets on the way and looks ugly. Instead, I would move the status bar to the very bottom and in turn increase the height of the actual viewing area. It would look a little bit different to the original, but doing these kind of enhancements are pretty much welcome. Take into consideration Doom 64 EX, which added uncapped framerate, high resolutions, mouse look, etc., yet it still plays like the original. That would be perfect for this project. Now, if it's too much of a worry, maybe adding an option of "overscan compensation" to enable o disable the black bar could be a last resort to keep everyone happy. 1 Share this post Link to post

Gerardo194 Posted February 24, 2018 Hi, long time no see, been very busy!!! This project is not dead, is still alive just like the id's RPG... @Alfaifiyou will play it, we really want that everyone plays it but when we discover something good suddenly a new discovery appears and that puts a little set back!!! My brother @Erick194 has done something really good that I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it. You can see it in this thread from @DeXiaZ: We always think big for the community and my brother is putting all his efforts on this although it takes its time, is not that easy... Stay tuned!! Thanks for your concern. 8 Share this post Link to post

ZinBinks Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) This is probably one of the most accurate PSX/64 projects I've ever seen done on GZDoom. Edited April 19, 2018 by ZinBinks 3 Share this post Link to post
The Nate Posted May 31, 2018 If you are going for accuracy (not starting up that aspect ratio argument again), then I suggest adding a new HUD message option where the messages are right above the status bar like in real PSX Doom instead of the top of the screen. Video of what I mean here: 3 Share this post Link to post

Hello my friend, thanks for replying. About adding the HUD message above the status bar, we have already done that severals months ago. We haven't posted updates about this because we are busy with a project that is about to start: Master Edition Doom for the Play Station. 0 Share this post Link to post
seed Posted August 5, 2018 I must've been living under a rock for the past months to completely miss this considering how much I like PSX Doom and especially Doom 64. Until today. Just stopped by to say that I'm amazed by what I'm seeing and I'm really looking forward to all projects 👊. 3 Share this post Link to post
Erick194 Posted August 7, 2018 (edited) I appreciate your comment @Agent6, but I'm sure everyone will love this Gzdoom Master Edition, now PSXDOOM looks more like the original, with the right color reduction like the PSX Console. Check these images. Spoiler PSXDOOM: PSXFINALDOOM: Also DOOM64 with PSXSoftware Render ?, It looks great. Spoiler DOOM64: 8 Share this post Link to post
