I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Very interesting! After completing it the first time, it easily became one of my favorite horror-type WAD, after Lasting Light. The horror atmosphere, the hellish environments, the music (yeah, all of them are very good, especially the map 05 music is so healing!), the changing between maps and returning on your home, the mysteries to solve on each maps are just so fascinating. I really loved to explore the secrets within maps and fighting through the ghostly forces.

However, what I felt unfair was that some of the fights were too tough (and surprising as well) to survive in some areas. Still, it is just so good that I wish I played it before!

This might just be my favourite horror-ish Doom wad of all time, apart from myhouse, Maskim Xul and maybe some other ones.

What I like:

+the overall theme

+your house being a hub area

+the dark atmosphere

+the semi open-endedness of the progression

+there are no jumpscares or anything of that sort

+the fact that the game remembers your progress while alternating between maps

+the music

+the difficulty, even tho it is indeed a little too much sometimes

What I dislike:

-A few certain fights that feel unfair (some examples: the long hallway where you get one of the keys and Archviles spawn behind you, there's no place to hide from their attack; or later when you return to the lower floors of the 1st major area, the fights in the narrow rooms with Archviles, immediately followed by a swarm of chainsaw zombies, where your only hope is to camp on top of an object; or some of the slaughter fights later on, especially in the chapel area)

-the ending feels meh

This totally has a super great vibe. I love the whole atmosphere of this wad and honestly the music was definitely that perfect level of droning that digs into your psyche. It reminded me of the OST from the original Silent Hill. Overall, a wonderful job, would love to see another one from this creator!

A haunting of the soul. Losing grip on reality and stumbling around your own home, lost in the gutters of your mind.

Love it or hate it, you have to admit that this mod has easily one of the best atmospheres ever made for a Doom mod. The idea for your home being a hub where you can access levels is really cool! When you open new areas and collect keys it gives a great feeling of progression.

Even though I gave it 5/5 stars doesn't mean it doesn't have flaws. The problems I had were getting a little lost while trying to memorize the doors and areas that require specific keys to unlock. Also later the game becomes a little bit slaughtery with the absurd amount of enemies that you have to fight against. Fighting against tons of enemies in tight corridors and small rooms were not really fun at all and the final boss was kind of lame.

Lastly, a really solid, fun and creepy mod to play. I played this mod on October and it boosted the atmosphere by a ton. It was also cool to see new monsters that have been also seen in some of Tormentor667's levels.

Silent Hill style wad, with interesting map design, non-linear gameplay and a lot of custom textures and enemies. Good challenge to play. Great atmosphere and the custom content is well integrated into the adventure. I got a ton of enjoyment out of this one and even replayed it a few times with various settings.

Good atmosphere, but ruined by the terrible gameplay. Tons of identical enemies attacking you over and over, plus some very dark levels where it's impossible to see where you're going, all amount to a mod more annoying than scary.

Ages ago, I submitted this wad for review in the /newstuff chronicles, the original review is still there, posted on May 11, 2010: http://www.doomworld .com/php/topstory.ph p?id=3234 (Down near the bottom). It later won a Cacoward in 2010. Not too long, but still one of my favorites for the atmosphere.

This one is crafted well. The textures are perfectly selected and the hub implementation is fucking amazing! This is a genuinely scary mod. Custom textures/monsters from Realm667... it's really a treasure!

This wad is awesome! Great atmosphere, creepy, lots of non-doom enemies. But... It is hard as hell. Almost impossible to go through. On start, is ok. Later is crampy and powerfull monsters, and the final is crampy and a freaking lots of powerfull enemies!

I thought the multiple huge monster arena sections were too hard, and detracted from the atmosphere.

Great atmosphere. Totally worth the two hours I spent playing this .wad. Unfortunately, it got too hard at the end (fack load of Viles and Revenants, barely any health, no ammo), but otherwise, this tense .wad always kept you on your toes with nasty traps, some oshit jumpscares every once in a while, hardly any ammo to spare, and a whole lot of depressing environments. Good luck on your Steam Greenlight entry. This is how I found this .wad 8/29/2015

there is a ton of atmosphere here, but I think gameplay leaves quite a lot to be desired since it's so cramped most of the time.

This is one of the most atmospheric wads I've ever played, if not THE most! The GZDoom effects that were used really added to the feeling of dread, and I enjoyed the gameplay and designs quite a bit, although there were a few moments where the difficulty could have been toned down just a tad. The Silent Hill references were well-done. 5/5, legendary!!!

Really loved it, the levels are like eye candy, very dark and ambient. The additional monsters adds a need for new strategy, but this is my only complaint. The strategy I could only do was pray to survive the infighting, too many difficult enemies at one time. But other than that I hope to find more wads from you.

Well worth downloading to see what Doom 3 might have been like, if the designers had still had their wits. Creepy, frightening, albeit sometimes confusing in that annoying Silent Hill way, but once you're on track this is a horror masterpiece.

I think should write something here, since some of the sounds are used in my recent wad.   Although, everything relevant has been said already. Here's "golden star" for proving, that even dubious mods have something intresting.

One of the more underrated doom mods out there. The levels have a lot of detail and great use of 3D sectors, used for railings and other things. Not a lot of mods that I know of has these attentions to detail back then other than KDiZD. I like how the first gun, not weapon, first gun in the mod is a quad barreled shotgun. This might be bias but I don't see any other mods or games give the player a quad barreled shotgun as a starter weapon.

The cutscenes and artwork used for them are REALLY well made. I like its story and the protagonist John Logan. His design looks like a cross between Daniel Garners from Painkiller and the Doom Marine from well, Doom 3.

Speaking of Painkiller, the mod uses tracks from Painkiller, which is a nice touch. Admittedly, there are things in Legacy of Suffering that I don't like, such as the Painkiller/Serious Sam arena wave sections. Not all of them are bad, but the later levels that uses them are the worst offenders. Often spawning mancubi, pain elementals, and revenants that just makes the fights more tedious.
      DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS AHEAD
      END OF SPOILERS:
In conclusion, Legacy of Suffering is a really well made mod and I really want other people to try it out. I would suggest to start on the easiest difficulty, do NOT get fooled by the normal difficulty Ultra Violence, it will kick your ass, and anything higher will probably break your soul. Other than that, I would highly recommend you to play this mod. It can be played on GZDoom, Zandronum, and Skulltag. That is the end of the review, have a nice day :)

Enigma is not exactly my cup of tea; the mandatory secrets are a bit annoying and the confusing layout of the maps doesn't help much. Still, the maps are fun to navigate and they feature some great architecture that lead to unique gameplay encounters. Overall, it's decently fun.

Nothing better than baiting the Bazooka Man into blowing himself up! Obituary doesn't pull any punches; you'll be facing tons of hitscanners and plenty of nasty traps, but you'll get to appreciate the fine work the Möller brothers did with this WAD. The maps are intricately designed with a judicious use of textures, some of them custom-made. The new array of weapons is great, especially the flamethrower, which can shred down a cyberdemon in seconds! The low point might be the plain secret map and icon of sin fight, but overall, Obituary strikes home more often than not.

In recent years, general opinon of MM seemed to move towars negative, moreso than any other classic 90's megawad. It's nice to see it recieve some positive attention and even though I'm not exactly a reviewer, I figured I'd join in. Aside from couple rough maps, it remains a great experience today. Generally good and varied vanilla visuals with beautiful highlights like Maps 05, 13, 14 and 21, certainly helped by some great, really cool custom textures, which fit in with the classic ones incredibly well, much better than any other 90's custom stuff (aside from Eternal Doom, but that's a completely different aesthetic). The maps are quite varied without the whole thing becoming incosistent/all over the place and the variety really helps blaze through the whole thing. In comparison, while I prefer MM2 in terms of individual levels, it has a ton of long or similar maps back to back, which can get tiring and take much longer to geth through. Another aspect of MM I really like is some really, unique and fun design choices, or even whole map designs that you don't see much these days for some reason. The Innocent Crew's maps especially are very creative in fun and refreshing ways. Incredibly underrated mappers. Literally everyone knows this already, but Mark Klem's music is amazing.
