  2. Defender

This is my first ever wad. I only have couple weeks experience with doom Builder and slade3.

Plot: there ain't really much of a plot other than the wad takes place after the revelations from the Bible and your character is like Moses meant to stop the Devil or some shit.

I will give an overview of the levels.

    1. The Nightmare - this was a filler level that I made in like 5 minutes.

    2. Awoken - Another filler level, nothing special

    3. Subway - This was actually the first level I made. it started off with just a rectangular room and I just kept adding on to it.

    4. Underworks - This was made to be a filler level but I kept adding on to it and playing with doom builder. this level may seem to have a difficult ending but its not that bad and very possible. I have playthroughed every single level.

    5. Duel of fates - This is the level where i just gave up and decided to quit the making the wad. too many problems and I got too frustrated so i rushed it and gave it an ending thats kinda cheap and easy. it was meant to be much bigger and harder.

    12. Polar Abyss - ( you will need to type "idclev 12) to warp here) This level I made as a tribute to one of my favorite childhood games. i remember playing donkey Kong country 2 back in 97' when I was kid and I always loved the level arctic abyss and the atmosphere and music. This level was kinda rushed so it ain't that special in terms of level design. its suppose to have a donkey kong platformer feel to it.

oh yeah I forgot to add that this wad is meant to be played with openGL as your software renderer.

If your wondering what the pistol, chaingun, chainsaw and bfg replacment sprites are. those are custom sprites I made myself with stuff i have laying around the house and digitized in photoshop.

  3. Relentless Decay

This is a challenging 2 map that encourages you to use ammo wisely.

Story: You awake in a room and as usual, you have no clue where you are. This is starting to get annoying, 19 years after defeating the boss of hell, you are still stuck in an endless cycle of waking up in places unbeknown to you, surrounded by more demons. "It seems like I've lived hundreds of lives, yet accomplished nothing in any of them", you think to yourself, "Well at least at least I still have my shotgun".

(cc4-tex.wad required!) The level was made for the Secret Santa Imitation project, led by Brian "Snakes" Knox. It is a small and tough map meant to imitate the style of Stuart "Forty-Two/stewboy" Rynn. Included in the zip is a postmortem I wrote for the project.

  6. Futility

    First off, you can't win.

Monster spawning pads surround the center area, which is where you spawn, and where ammo and some health spawns. There's cover around the base, and towers connected to it that teleport you in and out of the base. Your goal is to kill as many demons as possible. You will die. There is no win condition. But there is a score!

As you kill monsters, the spawned monsters will get stronger and stronger. If you stop killing monsters, the spawned monsters get weaker. Killing monsters gets you health and ammo, so if you're low on health and there aren't any pickups you can see, well... hope you don't get sniped.

There's also a minimap which tracks you, and the monsters surrounding the map - bigger dots means bigger baddies. Use it to more intelligently attack areas, or figure out where to run the hell away from.

I added explicit support for Samsara 0.29b and Lelweps v7. If you don't know what those are, don't worry.

My fifth map! And my first that's actually playable. Most of it is arena fighting and tricky effects. NOT meant to use jumping or crouching! Not designed for mouse look, but it's not game breaking.

Has full difficulty settings implemented! Reccomended to be played on NORMAL for your first time, and HARD after you get to know the map! EASY is always available if you find it too tough...

This map is one of the many parts of the Secret Santa Imitation Project, led by Brian "Snakes" Knox. It was meant to imitate the style of Chris "lupinx-Kassman" Kassap, and is designed for Single Player, Co-op, and Deathmatch play.

A lonely medieval outpost overlooking a large sea sits on the edge of the world. In it lies a magical sword of power, waiting to be taken by a brave adventurer. But be warned - rumor has it that the sword was sealed away in order to keep an alleged curse placed on it at bay...

  18. Firetop Mountain version 2

The idea for the map is based off of those old Fighting Fantasy books where you used dice and a pencil. It gets its name from the first book, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. Back in the mid to late 90s I sketched out the map as described in the book and decided to make a Doom level based on it. The floor plan I sketched is long lost, so apart from the beginning of inside the mountain, the rest has been newly created from scratch.

  20. Happy Birthday, Lainos!

A small present for Christmas of year 2012 and for the 21th bithday of Lainos, author of Sacrament, Doxylamine Moon: Overdose, 5till L1 Complex, Object 32-33-34 and several other cool maps.

Previously, I wanted to make a city level which is similar to Doxylamine Moon: Overdose, as a tribute, but I had lack of ideas and inspiration, so I decided to make it as a present. Well, it seems it was successfull. =)

Very important note: I integrated the map to the original Doxylamine OD file, which means that I changed the levels and their names only + I added one texture (LAINOS), which is a photo from Lainos. =)

  24. Egregor1

This is my first official Doom WAD release! Its a temple/mid-evil themed level with a unique concept (as far as I am aware) of a 2048 size, similar to 1024 size, only 4 times larger. The main reason I chose to do the 2048 theme was because all of the levels I have built thus far have ended up becoming extra large, and because of their size, I never end up finishing them. This is a deliberate way to keep me from creating an unmanageably sized map.

One of the more underrated doom mods out there. The levels have a lot of detail and great use of 3D sectors, used for railings and other things. Not a lot of mods that I know of has these attentions to detail back then other than KDiZD. I like how the first gun, not weapon, first gun in the mod is a quad barreled shotgun. This might be bias but I don't see any other mods or games give the player a quad barreled shotgun as a starter weapon.

The cutscenes and artwork used for them are REALLY well made. I like its story and the protagonist John Logan. His design looks like a cross between Daniel Garners from Painkiller and the Doom Marine from well, Doom 3.

Speaking of Painkiller, the mod uses tracks from Painkiller, which is a nice touch. Admittedly, there are things in Legacy of Suffering that I don't like, such as the Painkiller/Serious Sam arena wave sections. Not all of them are bad, but the later levels that uses them are the worst offenders. Often spawning mancubi, pain elementals, and revenants that just makes the fights more tedious.
      DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS AHEAD
      END OF SPOILERS:
In conclusion, Legacy of Suffering is a really well made mod and I really want other people to try it out. I would suggest to start on the easiest difficulty, do NOT get fooled by the normal difficulty Ultra Violence, it will kick your ass, and anything higher will probably break your soul. Other than that, I would highly recommend you to play this mod. It can be played on GZDoom, Zandronum, and Skulltag. That is the end of the review, have a nice day :)

Enigma is not exactly my cup of tea; the mandatory secrets are a bit annoying and the confusing layout of the maps doesn't help much. Still, the maps are fun to navigate and they feature some great architecture that lead to unique gameplay encounters. Overall, it's decently fun.

Nothing better than baiting the Bazooka Man into blowing himself up! Obituary doesn't pull any punches; you'll be facing tons of hitscanners and plenty of nasty traps, but you'll get to appreciate the fine work the Möller brothers did with this WAD. The maps are intricately designed with a judicious use of textures, some of them custom-made. The new array of weapons is great, especially the flamethrower, which can shred down a cyberdemon in seconds! The low point might be the plain secret map and icon of sin fight, but overall, Obituary strikes home more often than not.

In recent years, general opinon of MM seemed to move towars negative, moreso than any other classic 90's megawad. It's nice to see it recieve some positive attention and even though I'm not exactly a reviewer, I figured I'd join in. Aside from couple rough maps, it remains a great experience today. Generally good and varied vanilla visuals with beautiful highlights like Maps 05, 13, 14 and 21, certainly helped by some great, really cool custom textures, which fit in with the classic ones incredibly well, much better than any other 90's custom stuff (aside from Eternal Doom, but that's a completely different aesthetic). The maps are quite varied without the whole thing becoming incosistent/all over the place and the variety really helps blaze through the whole thing. In comparison, while I prefer MM2 in terms of individual levels, it has a ton of long or similar maps back to back, which can get tiring and take much longer to geth through. Another aspect of MM I really like is some really, unique and fun design choices, or even whole map designs that you don't see much these days for some reason. The Innocent Crew's maps especially are very creative in fun and refreshing ways. Incredibly underrated mappers. Literally everyone knows this already, but Mark Klem's music is amazing.

This could've been one of the first 32 level megawads that I played after completing the base games. I've played many more since then, and I can honestly say, for a megawad dating back to 1996, it still holds up brilliantly against a lot of modern wads.    Also @DoomGuy999, about that criticism about maps being coop exclusive... "Most levels were made for co-op play, all levels are playable alone as well."   Not exactly sure what you were expecting after having an explicit statement right there.
