Nostalgia 2 - now on idgames! [32 Maps] [Doom 2 Format] [Limit Removing]

Hello everyone, I am back with more maps!

The idgames version fixes the midis for maps 21 and 25 so they now loop correctly.

 

RC3 Changelog:

Spoiler

Changed a lift in a map 02 secret to avoid a potential softlock
Changed a lift in a map 03 secret to avoid a potential softlock
Modified the berserk secret in map 03 so it can no longer be bumped through the wall
Fixed an issue where the linedef at the start of map 04 could be skipped
Brightened up the sector containing the rocket launcher in map 05 to better signpost it to the player
Added impassable linedefs to map 05 so the player can no longer be blased out of the map by an archvile
Fixed the candles near the yellow key in map 10
Turned off ambush flag on archvile in BFG secret in map 11
Tweaked vertices in a map 16 monster closet to (hopefully) fix texture bleeding
Added some ammo to map 18
The lava in the final fight of map 20 now damages again
Added a Super Shotgun to the blue key fight in map 20 in case the player misses it in the optional area near the start of the map
Fixed a HOM caused by a window in map 22
Fixed a texture error in map 22
Moved monster closets further away from the playable area in map 23

 

Known Issues:
The MIDIs for maps 21 and 25 do not loop correctly. This will be fixed in a future version.

 

RC2 Changelog:

    - Fixed a softlock on map 29 when playing in CL2

    - Fixed an issue in map 32 where a floor would not lower properly due to actors being stuck

Original Post

 

Nostalgia 2 is a set of 32 limit removing maps for Doom 2. Much like the original the focus is on modern map design slathered with a layer of old school paint, but now expanded on with the CC4 resource pack and new episode themes. It also includes a custom HUD created by me along with a custom monster reskin (featured in the secret maps) created and voiced by BluePineapple72. The set is divided into 6 episodes, as detailed in the map list below.

Unlike the previous installment there are no death exits between episodes. The maps were designed with pistol starts in mind, but you could also pistol start each episode as well for a hybrid pistol start/continuous playthrough. In addition, co-op is fully implemented and tested.

 

I'd like to thank my playtesters BluePinapple72, Egg Boy, Death Bear, and Peccatum Mihzamiz who found a ton of bugs, pointed out some balance issues, and recommended some good changes to the maps along the way.

Sticking with my usual gimmick, these maps are all named after songs. This time around I limited my selection to tracks released in the 2000's. Oooooooh, these are verrrrry good maps, and the map name playlist is excellent as well. Just over the halfway point pistol starting each map and I've been having an absolute blast.

 

Found an issue with MAP32: in DSDA-Doom -cl2, sector 156 doesn't lower due to the actors being stuck in the 32 high ceiling.

Played up through map 11, enjoyed it a lot. It starts off very cosy but the castle maps ramped it up quite a bit, while still being relatively conservative with monster counts and boss monsters. Excited to finish the rest.

 

Encountered a soft lock on map 11, in the dark room with the lowering pillars the switches at the top are not functional under cl2 because the linedefs are facing the wrong way.
