I consider this to be one HELL of a level. Meaning you can play this for a long time and not win. However it makes a great deathmatch. I made the hard skill levels (4 & 5) look a little more hellish, because the easy skill levels are a cakewalk. I figure it to be a cheap reward. I've included a .LMP of me beating (finally) the level on Ultra- Violence, but haven't tackled Nightmare yet. -

I downloaded this .WAD expecting low-sample-rate recordings of outdated emulators horrifically trying to emulate the NES's APU, given its age and the shout-out to NESticle in the .txt, but to my surprise this doesn't sound bad at all (though now I wish there was a .wad that replaces sounds with ones recorded from outdated versions of NESticle or iNES). The sound effects chosen fit their purposes well and are not as grating as one might expect, though some are a bit too long for my liking. As another commenter pointed out, this .WAD mainly uses "stereotypical" sound effects, more specifically, from games that were most popular on the NES in America. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. Lastly, it seems that some SFX are not replaced (for example, the Mancubus wake-up sound is not replaced even though its other SFX are), but this could be an issue on my end as other reviews don't seem to mention this. -

So, have you ever been annoyed how so many monsters reuse sound effects, and how a few of them have no sounds to call their own? Tired of Revenants making the same old "DEEU-EEUH" sounds when shot instead of a suitably skeletony shriek? How about that naughty Archvile, and his distinct lack of sounds in the PSX version's style? Well now you're in luck! With the magic of a little SNDINFO, Audacity, and some sounds I had lying around, anything is possible! (For PSX fans at least!) -

Star Wars Doom is a collection of sprites, sounds, music, and levels. This release contains only graphic replacements as everybody who downloads this probably has the the pwad's for the other stuff. Eventually I'd like to see Star Wars Doom having a full episode (complete with secret level), full graphic replacements, and the greatest replacement sounds on earth... -

Pretty cool on paper, and ingame it's still pretty cool. However, I personally wish that the author would have used less recognizable and stereotypical sounds. Being able to instantly recognize sounds from games like Mario and Sonic at The North Korea Olympic Games kind of cheapens the intended effect, because I have already heard all of these sound effects tens of thousands of times. Therefore, it gets a bit grating and ends up feeling like a cheesy gimmick and not something I'd actually want to use more than once, which sucks because there are certain wads that would work well in conjunction with this mod. -
