    OSIRIS Total Conversion

    Version

    448 downloads

OSIRIS Total Conversion is the much-expanded sequel to I, ANUBIS (a DOOMGATE "Best Doom2 of all time" level). OSIRIS makes that one look like pac-man. OSIRIS contains incredible new monsters, textures, graphics, and sounds (326 new sprites!). Loosely (very loosely) based on the movie "STARGATE". Designed to be DIFFICULT, with serious thought applied to gameplay, lighting, architecture, immersion, and theme. Gameplay will be best on ULTRAVIOLENT in single-player or co-op modes. Provision for deathmatch is not included. OSIRIS is NOT so huge as to slow your machine to a crawl, but faster machines will, of course, play better. OSIRIS is a totally immersive experience. A connoisseur's wadset. Not for the weak. Requires doom2 1.9 or a deft hand with dehacked. Really. This won't work with other versions. The upgrade patches are freely available at cdrom.com in the idstuff directory or in Compuserve's ACTION GAMES forum.

The installation program was written by Olivier Montanuy (author of DeuTex and DeuSF... two very fine Doom utilities) and has been modified to work with Doom 2 by Jason Mezzacca. You'll need about about 2.5 megs of extra disk space to install. The installation will *not* change your doom2.wad nor will it change doom2.exe so there will be no need to uninstall it to play Doom normally again. The levels used for the normal A-TC game are map11 through map18, and map31 as the secret level. Map01 and map02 were used for the two bonus levels. If there are any problems with the installation, you can contact me at 72510.3424@compuserve.com. Please, do not bother Justin or Olivier about it... if there's a problem, it's most likely my fault.

Always dreamed of being Ash? Well buddy, here's your chance. Gun down skeletons in the graveyard. Hack apart Deadites in the Pit. Blow away Bad Ash at the windmill. To put it in the words of the help screen: "Be Ash and protect the town of Arthur and make your way home to S-Mart. Armed with a torch, shotgun, chainsaw, and Winchester, you'll have the best Doom add-on experience ever made." 'Nuff said.

LB4-26. The terra forming colony has stopped transmitting or responding. There is a possibility that this is the result of an unknown parasitic alien species. Against this possibility, a military force has been mobilised to investigate. ALIENS-TC differs from DOOM in a few ways; For starters, some standard DOOM tactics either don't work, or result in quick and messy death, don't approach this as another DOOM conversion, treat it like something new, pay attention, don't slip into Auto-kill-&-Collect mode and finish the game while thinking of other things, get immersed, look at the architecture, predict the layout and how it affects your plans etc.

Amazing Total Conversion megawad!!! Moody, atmospheric, challenging, breathtaking... Just... WOW! At first the game is really different to the Doom experience, soo different that you will have a rough time trying to understand the mechanics. Just like playing a completely new game for the very first time. But when you finally understand the mechanics, the new weapons, and the possibilities, a marvelously detailed and vast world unfold to you very eyes. It was a long time that a game made me feel real awe. The sense of wonder of this maps are something unique. This Total Conversion really make the unthinkeable and take it to eleven. Thanks @Revae for this amazing total conversion. Hope you can take this piece of art to the next level. You deserve it!!!

    Batman Forever

A small and frantic map for deathmatch that unluckily doesn't got me too much into it. Single player placement is a joke. The only interesting thing i can think are: Why a Batman Forever map, over the fact that shares the music with a Dwango compilation (maybe Dwango 5) by U2, used as well in other doom maps of the time? That's the only piece of correlations between these two franchises i can think of, actually. The second thing that i was thinking is: you known that exist another deathmatch map based upon batman years before the more well known Batman total conversion by ACE Team? Isn't this crazy?

Hello, friends and neighbors. 'Tis I again with another really cool DooM improvement that I'm sure you'll all enjoy. I know that I have found something lacking in the total conversion deals available out there, and I took it upon myself to do them one better. So here is my attempt at a stormtrooper to show those dolts who made the Star Wars conversion how a stormtrooper should look! After all, shouldn't they look just a little bit like they did in the films? I mean beyond being black and white?
A very bizarre episode 2 deathmatch replacement from 94', and a standout for its time. There are a few more copies of this wad on the archive for older versions of doom as well as one for doom2. Honestly the levels don't seem like they'd be too fun to actually deathmatch in, but they're certainly worth a look for the sheer creativity that went into them. Its basically a mini total conversion (..or perhaps partial conversion if anyone remembers that term :P ) based around the concept of a theme park/circus. It even has a nice intermission screen depicting the player's progression through the various locales which is pretty rare to see for some reason.

    OSIRIS Total Conversion

the OSIRIS Total Conversion, which is really more of a partial conversion, is more or less the original Epic. this tells quite a lot given how popular the Egyptian theme became once both Epic and Epic 2 hit the community. but Osiris was first, gave us quite a lot of cosmetic changes, the Egyptian theme mixed in with the techbase theme rather well. on the difficulty scale you're not really gonna find much in actual challenge, as monsters tend to be the newly cosmetic ones most of the time. the Anubis is a reskinned imp with a better projectile but that's it. the Pharoah is a hilariously easy arch-vile variant with not much in challenge, and neither are the bats, blue marines, or scythe-wielding guys. all these make up the bulk of the monsters with a few vanilla ones here and there. maps are fairly standard, medium-sized, and the design evokes shades of TiC maps from the Memento Moris that came out in the same year. a few traps as one might expect but nothing someone who's played Obituary can't handle. it's a good one for nostalgia, has some fun factor that holds up, and well it's pretty neat overall.

    STRAIN 1.0 (repackaged edition)

    Version

    642 downloads

This is a reupload of the legendary 1997 total conversion STRAIN to repackage it in a manner suitable for modern users. The original version uploaded to /idgames on September 14, 1997 was distributed as a self-extracting LZH file, which one could run only in DOS, split into four pieces so the user could copy them to four 3½-inch floppy disks and install the WAD that way if they wanted. Because both DOS and floppy disks have been obsolete for decades, this method now serves only to deter all but the most tech-savvy users from playing it, and thus it has been repackaged as a regular ZIP file. strain.zip contains the complete contents of the self-extracting LZH extracted with another program so that the timestamps are preserved. No files are needed to play the WAD in modern ports apart from STRAIN.WAD and STRAIN.DEH, but they are included anyway for historical accuracy. The WAD's permissions (see below) allow it to be redistributed as long as the original text file and package are included with no modifications. Thus, the original 1997 strain10.* package is included as two separate files complete with the original /idgames archive timestamps, not only to follow the permissions but once again for historical interest. The original package also remains available on the archive itself as a separate download.

    Final Fantasy Doom (version 2)

    Version

    272 downloads

Final Fantasy "the best Japanese RPG ever" meets Doom "the best FPS ever". Final Fantasy Doom is a Total Conversion for Ultimate Doom with 27 single-player levels (3 complete episodes) and 7 Deathmatch levels (Episode 4). Final Fantasy Doom features new music, sound, monsters, weapons and graphics, all based on the game Final Fantasy 3 by SquareSoft. In Final Fantasy Doom you are MOG, FF3's cutest hero, and you must fight your way through forests, caves, mountains, castles, etc., defeat the boss monsters, and ultimately face the evil spirit hiding in the painting of the Princess of Vector. FFDOOM2.ZIP (by Sparky of KISS Software) is an updated version of FFDOOM.ZIP (by Ramon Mujica). FFDOOM2 was created with the consent and assistance of Ramon Mujica. See below for a detailed list of what changes were made for Version 2. AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE: the levels basically appear in the order they were created by Ramon Mujica, so there is a distict increase in quality from the first to the third episode. If you hate the first few levels (I certainly did) then may I suggest you try Episode 2 before you decide FFDOOM2 is a piece of crap. Or alternatively, watch the demos which are only 147 to 218 seconds in length and give you a quick idea of what Final Fantasy Doom is all about.

    Days of Xornox The Forest

This my last review of this "days of xornox" series. So,dechacked patch only adds new trees painted with ms paint. It seems author tried to create total conversion wad with new assets, but he failed. Now everything is green, but with same problematic results. I recommend avoid these "days of xornox" wads, unless you are like bad wads or you don't know what to do next in your life.

CyberShield is a total conversion that transforms DOOM into a retro, arcade-style 3D shooter. You are a mercenary who must defend a server against hackers in a virtual world.
Really entertaining little mapset. Pretty atmospheric, too. Greatly in line with the movies. -Starting on the cabin in the...woods? In this case in the middle of a broken road to nowhere, we search the little cabin in search for clues, only to find the necronomicon! and things go bad really fast. -Next maps we are on the past, on a castle, and we need to clean this mess Ash's way. An interesting open ended layout that let us tackle the map in almost any way we desire. Groovy! -Third map is kinda collector like, the first maze are could be stright from Wolfenstein 3D, as its is just a plain maze with just some enemies at almost every turn. Then we reach some kind of hub area where we need to fill the fountains with the bloods of all the enemies we slaughter on them. Groovy! -Fourth map is a boss map, not great design but interesting and atmospheric. -Fifth map is kinda filler, as is really short. Anyway, there are some neat details in this graveyard. I suppose there is a trap as the primary gimmick of the map, where we need to choose from three different nocronomicons whats the real one. Besides that, the trap isn't taht hard, and adds some interesting details to the map like skeltons piles on the ground and enemies here and there. -Sixth map is really huge medieval city like, kinda the residential castle, the details on this one are great, and the layout is really good. Secrets are neat and the map end with a boss encounter, so its probably the best map of the set. -Seventh map is kinda short, too. We are on our way to a portal that lead us to our own time again. It has a hot start with almost every kind of the regular enemies. The bridges are a neat touch. Besides that, theres no much to tell about this map... save that it has a secret exit. Playing it on DoomRetro it take me to the first map, thanks god i saved before. I think it doesn't work much on the Doom 2 version of the TC, it should be removed i think :/ -Eighth map is on the present, and we are on our regular job at the mart, but the deadites follow us through the portal home, and now we need to clean this mess, too. Thanks god there is a bed at the end of the map, we really needed. -Ninth map, in fact, we sleep for too long and we are now kinda on the past?, future? Anyway, final map, nothing great. I enjoyed it. Not as much as i expected but there are interesting details and layout to get inmersed on the premise of the TC. The sounds are funny and are taken directly from the films, so we can hear Ash's lines here and there to great effects. It has potential to be far better, but the dehacked work isn't that great, as its seems to be kinda just a reskin for the monsters. The weapons are OK, i think. They are in line for what is expected for the theme of the mapset. What i really like from the mapset is the moody soundtrack it has. Great midis for sure! Thanks guys for this Total Conversion, its plays like a charm!

    Batman DOOM

Done with these settings: - GLBoom+ 2.5.1.4. complevel 9. - Avenging Angel, aka skill 4. - Continuous. - Saves every 10 minutes or so. - Also loaded the patch to avoid game breaks. A nice total conversion that almost felt like an entire different game. Cool maps, if a bit too linear, but this is old school so it's fine. Good enemies replacements, very cartoony, specially the bosses, Croc grabbing rocks and throwing them to me, Joker with a weak archie attack, Bane and his words "YOU ARE NOTHING" "YOU PATHETIC FOOL", rofl... Slum lords and Snipers were the most annoying ones, and Scarecrow as the hardest in my opinion, a revenant made of grain stalks. I liked the sprites replacements, and the slot machine is a cool new sprite, always giving me something different. The weapons are not too convincing, for example the chaingun's replacement is a little underwhelming compared to the single batarangs, which are cool to use. Blastgun and Azarael's gloves are the best, the flamethrower and gas bombs only serve if the enemies are close, plus bombs are useless against tall actors. Oh and the chainsaw replacement is cool too. Some nasty traps including mines and silent robots. Secrets were ok and underwhelming, the ugly part is that a lot of them require wall hunting via hit or shots. Also, maybe because of playing on AA but, health is really tight in most maps, and ammo might become a problem in further maps for batarang starters. There are also some cool hacks, like the train section, explosives, a timing battle to reach the secret map, map 22 stood out with the finale. Anyway, I liked this, pretty short, not amusing but interesting. It's a 7/10

    Pirate Doom

"Me key has been stolen! " And there goes Pirate Doom, played through GZDoom 4.0.0 on UV difficulty. We sure showed 'em how Doom is done, the pirate way, so let's see what we have here. Pirate Doom, as the name implies, is a total conversion for Doom II, featuring a lot of new content and vast modifications to the gameplay. It comes with new textures, sounds, music, enemies, weapons, menu background, intermission screens, and status bar. The player visits caves, ships, temples, forests, circuses, bars, castles, and various building with an architecture and design similar to that of the old days, a 19 maps long experience (18 with actual gameplay + 1 bonus for credits and epilogue). Being a TC, the modifications are extensive. All enemies are re-skinned and have new attacks, the weapons are replaced with various equivalents of that period, with the notable exception of the BFG, which is now a dynamite thrower, no chainsaw, a Cutlass replacement for the fist/berserk, and freelook is recommended. A few entirely new enemies are also introduced, namely a smaller, very weak Arch-Vile, with no hitscan attacks, ghost versions of the Imp and Lost Soul, suicide bombers, yet another version of the Imp, this time equipped with dynamite, and a final boss, the pirate Black Beard. Certain weapons also have mounted versions, such as the pirate cannon, which is the main means of destruction on a level where the player is tasked with sinking a few enemy ships. The difficulty curve is traditional, starting easy and getting more difficult as you advance, but the game never becomes very difficult, in fact the difficulty is very similar to Doom 2 and a few maps from Plutonia. Certainly, fun and immersion are the main elements at work here. The music has atmospheric, ominous, and more action themed tracks, and this would be one of the more intriguing parts of the TC. This is because it contains copyrighted music, namely AC/DC's classic Highway to Hell. No idea how permission was granted to be used in a non-commercial Doom TC, but it sure is a welcome addition. After all is said and done, the journey ends with a battle against the famous pirate Black Beard, in his ghost form and with powerful attacks, capable of summoning minions and using a variety of magic attacks, an expected and well executed final battle. Perhaps the only real problem in the TC are the underwater levels, this is because movement is very slow and difficult there, not to mention that one can barely see a damn thing. Thankfully, these maps are short and straight to the point, so they don't ruin the experience. All in all, Pirate Doom manages to create something fresh, fun, and unique with a surprising theme that fits remarkably well, in addition to preserving the core essence of the original game. It's most definitely worth the time, even if you're not necessarily a fan of pirates, I myself am not. So grab yer Cutlass and prepare to slash some demons, arrrrrrgh!
