I really like this style of visuals. Never played console Dooms, but I really like how colored lightning looks. It really do wonders for the atmosphere, its a shame that so few wads use that feature. Episode itself is really fun and well made, would be good even without pretty lightning and with regular Doom soundtrack, however those features make it really special.

This is easily my favorite user-made level that I have come across thus far in DOOM. It has really everything that I want in a good level. Love the soundtrack. Love the creepy eerie feel to it that really begins to progress towards the end, leaving the player enveloped in a fog of mystery & wonder, even after it's over. One thing continues to remain a mystery: where is the arch-vile? I studied the map & could find one no where, so how is the bug even still implemented? ~~ Cam the Cat - 4/17/11

I'm up to map 12 so far and I love it. The above reviewer is right - no criticism comments have been made so far, so let me be the first! The new textures are mostly, if not all, remakes or mixes of various Doom 2 textures. They are all beautifully done. I have two nitpicks about this though: First, why are there at least two Arch Viles in every map except for map01? Also, this could easily use a soundtrack, too bad it doesn't. Anyway, 4.5/5 (5) from me. Recommended. - Moti

I'm really enjoying this! I'm not one for all the "Hellish" maps. I've always liked episode one of Doom. I prefer the tech bases. It's more fun blowing away zombie's and imps aha. And that soundtrack though! The song on level 2 aha! The whole time I was trying to figure out what song it was. Then it clicked "Oh that's Maniac!" aha. Great work man.

However faithful it is to the original Wolfenstein, this wad is as boring as hell to any experienced and even reasonably proficient Doom player. I changed the soundtrack to make sure I wouldn't die of ennui, and even then I just gave up after a bug in the code caused me to die on Level 16. When I'm 91 they'll be having me play this instead of shuffleboard.

I deeply appreciate works like this. And the kind of projects I'd like to see more of from the Doom community. PSX/N64 is a sorely underused style (not that I want it to be overused either) and can be used to implement some truly great settings. The creepy atmosphere is all there, with Aubrey Hodges' soundtrack, the colored lighting technique, and some classic gameplay with simple but attractive detail that proves you don't have to R667 resource/detail the shit out of things to be good. 5/5

*Zero Day includes an original soundtrack. If you'd like the optimised mp3 version with realistic instruments, check out zerodaymp3.zip, which should be in the same place that you located this file. This was developed as a companion piece to a novel I'm currently marketing - Zero Day. I chose to develop it in Doom because I wanted something I could distribute freely and easily, as a whole package. Zero Day, the Doom addon, sees you travelling across a fictionalised west coast of the U.S.A., fighting demons, allegedly in search of the lead protagonist from the novel. The novel begins in the midst of political turmoil as reluctant political figurehead, poster boy and rockstar, Jeremy Government, vanishes from the public eye. There's nothing left of the Earth but desert, in most places, and cities are ruled by board meetings, ideals towards serving "the common good," and a concise anti-capitalist regime. Citizens are suffering, and rebel forces plot against it in the darkness. Jeremy surfaces amidst them, and, learning a few hard truths, he joins their campaign. They plant a bomb in a government building, while Jeremy makes a short public appearance, albeit, in the ensuing chaos, Jeremy is shot live on television, sparking a revolution. -

This DOOM II map is a deathmatch wad with a jungle island theme. The setting and ideas are based on my favorite chat BBS, Jungle II, where it carries Game Connection. This map contains new graphics, new sprites, new weapons, sound effects, and a new junglish soundtrack. This map should be used with deathmatch 2.0 (-altdeath) and respawning monsters (-respawn). Be sure -nomonsters parameter is removed, so that the map has man-eating sharks. And you thought Gilligan's Island was fun to watch! Wait until you laugh hard with this awesome creation. :) Map features: * A big island surrounded by a shark-infested ocean. Also, a tiny island near by. * Wooden and stone buildings. * Munden's Bar. * Overhead speakers that the players can use. * Banana and palm trees with goodies. * A wooden dock. * Game Connection center with interactive computers. * Eidble/Usable food: Coconuts, bananas, and cakes. * The Club with sexy hula dancers. * Dark dungeon. * Ladders. * Players as hairy apes. * Realistic bathrooms! You can hide too! * Unbreakable windows that can be opened and closed! * Open windows with curtains. * Shootable ceiling fans. * A small lifeguard tower. * "Well of Youth." Hint: Fountain of Youth. * Sewer storage building. * A grafitti wall that players can read. -
Without a doubt the greatest Doom mod I've ever played. While the gameplay is sometimes tedious, the beautiful map designs, amazing music, and well-written storyline make up for anything that could possibly be perceived as a shortcoming. In addition, it manages to be legitimately scary, something that not many Doom levels can still do. Also, the soundtrack to this is in my most-played songs list. It's that good. If you haven't played this yet, play it now. 5 stars. - esselfortium

I don't get how "fans of the original midis might actually like this", since the original Doom soundtrack is inspired (for the most part) by 90's rock/metal, and this is 80's synth music, so it's two different styles of genres. But the music in this wad is great in it's own terms, even thought it doesn't really fit the original Doom 2 maps, but they could be useful for some other wads. 4/5

Silent Hill? In MY Doom? I'll take it! This WAD provides all of the following: good challenge, top-notch visuals and design, a few new bad guys, an interesting story, a very eerie soundtrack, and an awesome and foreboding atmosphere. Only cons I can think of? Difficulty was a bit too lame at a few points, i.e. a hallway where hellknights spawn on each end. But the bullcrap moments were very very few, so it's cool. Looking forward to see what Paul does next! 5/5

/Story This WAD file contains all new music for Doom II. This even includes the title screens! The Doom Preservation Society has a hard time figuring which MUS files are the best for its projects. So we make a lot of them here available. The music ranges from 80's Pop to Soundtracks but complies with the latest guidelines (no Disney) All music contained is public domain. -
An excellent mapset. Despite some worse parts (MAP25... and what's the idea with MAP29 giving you the key to the exit right at the beginning?), this is one of the more professional-looking and better Doom mapsets. Fun, balanced, and with a good (if a tad too easy) MAP30, and an excellent soundtrack, this is a must-play.

Surprisingly good hub. Some atmospheric music could have helped (something like PSX Doom soundtrack would fit this wad quite well), architecture and visuals needed more work - this one can sometimes look really simplistic for a wad heavy on source port features. Other than that I think this is a fine hub, sufficiently well crafted and enjoyable if approached with right expectations.

One of the top Doom I megawads. Good level designs and lengths, a sense of oldschool play that oddly manages to stray (in a good way) from ever truly just mimicking original styles. And oddly I like the DTWID-planned soundtrack appearing in here as well. It's time this project FINALLY gets a legitimate cacoward, in eleven months that is. 5/5

Oh come on, this is an innocent upload and you faggots try to find "ignorance" where there is none, the archives were meant for sharing, and the midis here actually are decent. This is just what I was looking for actually, a soundtrack to use alongside the better classical megawads so that I don't die of boredom with D_RUNNIN and the rest Doom 2's hideous soundtrack, ie Kmeg1, Realm of Chaos, and Cleimos. No one's forcing you to use them in your own shitty projects either. 5/5 - DeathevokatioN

The author obviously has a good feel for architecture but Heretic/Hexen textures don't suit DOOM at all. They looked out of place in Eternal and WoS and worse here. Add the ammo/powerup overkill, complete disregard for proper flats alignment and the blaring soundtrack, and from above-average this drops to 2/5 - N_A

This WAD is very surreal, almost like a twilight zone episode (a long one), or some really odd dream. It's both beautiful and haunting, and the music is simply incredible. It's subtle but just powerful enough to create a chilling atmosphere. I haven't heard a soundtrack for a Doom WAD that's quite so dreamlike.
