I never would've thought that I would enjoy games like Serious Sam 3 but I have come to like it now and have found myself immersed in it unlike any other game for quite some time, of course there are moments which psis me off and I just quit the game to return to it another day but I am really enjoying it so far. There's so many similarities to Doom in it.

GZDoom's fog doesn't work the way I want it to, there is only one set kind and no alternatives unfortunately.
-
Make sure you are setting fogdensity in MAPINFO. This property "fixes" fog so that it gets applied evenly across all light levels. Normal GZDoom fog behavior is rather odd.
-
-
This could be simulated with some linedef trickery - have it so the fog is set when you cross a linedef at a distance, perhaps? You may be able to play with it enough that it has a 'gradual fade' effect. Alternately, if you're willing to get super advanced about it, have a script running that checks your distance from a hidden / invisible actor at the point of the fog.
You could also use translucent, solid-colour midtextures which are activated the same way as the abovementioned idea.

I can't yet figure out how to add coloured fog in GZ Doom Builder, anybody have any tips?

I really need an excuse to play Diablo II again, I'm going to have to find someone to play a co-op game of D2 with.
-
I would be interested. I've never played past Act 2, despite loving the game. Something always finds a way to stop me playing and then I either get back into Doom mapping or something else, heh. The only issue you and I would have of playing coop is:
- Timezones- I work shift work, as in, different hours every day / week.
-
Excuse 2: Ladder resetting next week (30th).

Decided to get back into Doom since it's been too long for me, I am also looking to improve my ability to make maps and I have come up with some custom industrial textures which I want to see how well they would work with a test map.
-
Panic attacks, I never knew how horrible they were until I experienced one for the first time. I am pretty sure it was one since it was sudden but brief feeling of terror.
-
I only just found a secret map in Quake II named Sudden Death accessible from Receiving Center which I never found since I got the game on the 12th of September 2006. My mind is totally blown.
-
So I found a pack of Ocarina of Time textures and decided that I wanted to make a Doom map with its Shadow Temple textures, however some of them are a little too small, and I can't just simply resize them in one of my few graphic softwares as I fear it will make them look a bit crappy. I don't really know what to do at this point.
-
When I made AeonDM map 11 I used textures from here: http://www.emutalk.net/threads/51481-Zelda-Ocarina-of-time-Community-Retexture-Project-V6-Development-Topic
However, it is incomplete and unlikely to be completed. All the textures are on my old, dead HDD, I'll have to retrieve them someday, but I don't think Shadow Temple was done, like, at all, I drew mostly on the Spirit temple and Fire Temple. I had to resize all textures/flats, I used MS "Photo Manager" that came with Office 2007. Didn't lose any noticeable integrity.
Word of advice though, prepare for really bad palette translations and very awkward structuring. Dragonfly is also right you'll find you have to do a lot of mixing and matching from various parts. You'll also have to do a ton of actual texture editing and lighting work in the map to make it look half decent. Lighting is literally the most important thing to make or break these textures unless you make a palette specific to them. It also really suffered in software vs OGL, I highly highly recommend using some port that supports true color or OGL.
Here's some screenshots. First 3 are software.
-
I got mine from here which seems to be the next version of the same set: http://www.emutalk.net/threads/55307-Zelda-Ocarina-of-time-Community-Retexture-Project-V7
-
Oh neat, didn't realize it had finally updated, it had been quite some time since I had retrieved them... Provided the format is the same, all the textures were pretty well within their named folders unless they had appeared somewhere else in the game first.
As I'm sure you've noticed, the textures are also quite fat in terms of weight and actual size, so you will still likely have to do all the texture editing manually for doom, and pray the palette doesn't have its way with the textures.

I have never really played a campaign based co-op game with someone in such a long time, the last game I ever played co-op in believe it or not was Call of Duty: World at War some time around 2009-2011.
The first game I recall playing co-op in was James Bond Everything or Nothing on the GameCube with my brother, hell I can't even remember when that was.
I have never really played any of the ID games in co-op such as Doom and Quake, not even any of the build engine games either.
-
I have been obsessing with certain texture styles from N64 games, I want to try messing around with a fair amount of textures in Doom from games such as from Perfect Dark, Ocarina of Time, and Goldeneye, and even Mario Kart.
-
-
The game I've always wanted a set of texture rips from is the PSX's Spyro The Dragon. If you're in the know about how to rip textures from PSX Games, I'd be both impressed and somewhat desparate to learn.
Also I thought Perfect Dark was flippin' awesome, so a PD themed map set would be right down my alley! -

I want to try Batman Doom but I have no idea which source port would work best with it.

3DGE has a special version of Batman Doom by CeeJay:

I still wish Blood would get a proper source port, dosbox is not perfect as is most emulation for that matter. I remember trying it on my old W98SE PC and despite the lack of music it worked so much better.

Well I finally did and uploaded my first Let's Play video, but I am not happy with the commentary so far, however it is my first one so I guess I shouldn't feel bad about it I will just have to aim to improve over time.

-
I am hesitant to link to it but I do need constructive criticism on how I could do better so I guess I will https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNomfWMvCiI

I don't know how to feel about it but 30 is such a long time. I have decided to push for change in my life at this point and try to better myself from any past mistakes, I am also going to try to eat healthier whenever possible and try to reduce stress and depression by doing something more constructive with my life rather than just sit around on the computer all day. I may even try to get my license and a motorbike like I have been thinking of getting for a while now.

I have been meaning to get into doing "Let's Play" videos and well I found out from other LPers that the Blue Yeti microphone was one of the best to use, I found one for around $172 AUD on EBay and I am wondering if it's worth it for that price.
I mean it seems a bit steep for just a microphone but I guess it's something to do with the current currency exchange rate for the USD to the AUD as I have heard that the same microphone is around $75 in the US.
Any thoughts on it and if I should buy some other microphone instead?
This is the microphone I which I want to buy: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Blue-Microphones-Yeti-USB-Condenser-Microphone-for-Mac-PC-/361391014352?hash=item54249541d0:g:ivsAAOSwe7BWu~yK -
Well it has just reached Feb 11 here in Aus so it's my birthday and I'm only one year away from reaching the third decade of my life, I already feel quite old.
-
Have any mates with spare time? Between my group of friends and brothers we always fork out money to host a reasonably good 30th night. Mine is not until a few more years though.
We don't do anything crazy, it's usually a killer feast with good drinks to boot. I hope you get do something special, it's uplifting. -

I found $115 I had hidden away without any message to remind myself why, I wasn't so sure what to do with it at first but I eventually decided that I would buy some rum since I've never tried it before.
Naturally I had no idea which one to get for a first timer such as myself so I asked the worker there for recommendations, I eventually ended up getting Captain Morgan spiced rum mixed with coke, it was only $20.
I will be trying it later.- Show previous comments 3 more

If you are into drinking the strong stuff I suggest you also try out scotch. JW black label is a good one which isn't too expensive. Though if you are only into mixed drinks I suggest just sticking with Vodka and rum.
Personally I can't stand rum because it makes my stomach upset for some reason. I guess it's all the sweetness. Can't stand super sweet alcohols. Plus it makes the hangovers all the worse. -

I've noticed already that a few members have avatars mentioning how they are blocked from Everything Else such as gggmork and Technician, did the mods/admins set their avatars that way or did the members set them themselves?

Globalization... The emergence of a worldwide market, governments trading and cooperating
Worldwide trade is just one of the aspects of globalization, had that since the 16th century I believe...
FireFish said:and the rise of different cultures in all sorts of nations ?
Each nation sort of had its own independent culture for centuries or millenia now, depending on how old they are and what they went through, and some did so in relative isolation, so no, it's not about that. More like a "melting pot" or "americanization" we-are-all-the-same effect. Or if you prefer, a vacuous commercialization of a vague "Ethnic" (of which ethinicities, really?) ... thing.
Globalisation also means that the decisions of a voter in the USA will affect the lives of people thousands of miles away, quite possibly in a definitive way. Or the choices of a German voter may condemn tens of millions citizens in other country to a slow economic death over many decades (OK, I'm bringing in the concept of collective responsibility in a democracy, here, that's another can of worms). Or, the ideas of a long-dead prophet of a certain religion may bring socio-cultural changes in a far-away land, in ways that even he couldn't anticipate.
What is really "new" compared to past centuries, or even WW2, is how quickly not only goods and people, but also ideas can move around. -
But, on an internet which attempts to force people to the sites and views of their own language, nation, and filter bubble (basicly most big search engines).
Jumping on an airplane, starting a war, attacking something, sharing a religion... Yeah, its a lot faster now than 20 years ago. Hell... things even air on the news at the end of the day. ;-)
Or... Lets do the Roman thing again and force everything to become like the west... thats a nice and bland world.
/offtopic.
I havent seen those EE ban avatars outside of blogs. Are those People still here or did they leave DoomWorld ? -
Some weren't active in other forums besides EE, so yeah, that's quite normal.
As for the Internet...IMO, its biggest failure has been precisely the failure to "level" all countries to the same level of Western Democracy (which, as Winston Churchill had said, despite its flaws, was "the best of possible worlds"). It wasn't able to eradicate superstition, skews and kinks caused by local politics. On the contrary, it took market, political and law systems by surprise, and it still keeps on doing that.
By surfing, one could initially think that we're living in some sort of globalized, Western-type democracy, with unified laws, unified politics, unified culture, unified economics etc. but that's far from the truth, and usually in quite unpleasant ways. - Show next comments 3 more

Well, we (i.e. my company, Gambit) do have a book in our future programme called Chess Strategy for Kids, which might be suitable.
If you desperately want something new(ish) by me, then there is a revised electronic edition of my Torre Attack book. There's a Kindle version (with a free sample, including a description of what is new), but I recommend the Chess Studio edition. It's not really a book for casual players though. - Show next comments 3 more

Ever since getting my first smart phone (S5) I haven't yet used it for calls nor added any credit to it but I have been using internet on it via free public hotspots, none of these hotspots are located near my home.
However last night whilst in bed my phone randomly vibrated and I checked it and saw my Ebay app gave me a notification of a seller message I've already seen while on my PC in the previous evening, I opened up Ebay and it worked, then I checked various other sites as well as the youtube app and they also worked.
I am quite perplexed as to why this is happening, it has also happened once before when I tethered my Nokia 2690 a few years ago although it was very slow. -
Ever had those times a song regardless of how long its been since you last heard it somehow manages to pop up in your head without even trying to think of it, and keeps playing over and over?
Just recently the Inspector Gadget theme song keep playing repeatably in my head even though I haven't even seen the show in over two decades.
Is there any particular reason why this sort of thing sometimes occurs with peoples minds?- Show previous comments 6 more

Music is something odd, and it has been proven to ignite the memories in the brains of people with alzheimer or memory loss.
But theme songs of shows one watched for days as a kid... damn those are tough nuggets, lol.
Recently i had these haunting my brain...
Power rangers theme.
THE Spiderman theme.
teenage mutant ninja turtles.
Is-no-good theme.
Dragonball Z theme.
Yu gi oh theme. (from 1999 and early 2000 - yuuuu giii oooooh)
The super mario world themes (super nintendo.)
To many to list, but it has died out a lot lately. -
Darkwing Duck, goddamn. I can actually say I haven't heard that in maybe 15 years. It's one of those things which I know I used to watch, but kinda forgot about it even though it was pretty badass at the time.
Also yeah yu-gi-oh is a repetitive one for me as well. I love the bass line halfway through the song ftw.

Well it just reached my 28th birthday today, but I'm feeling much older than I actually am, nothing much has happened so far but maybe my mother will visit today, I did get a card from my grandmother in the mail with $30 included.
-
I just bought this (scroll down): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ALIENWARE-ANDROMEDA-X51-i7-3770-Upto-3-9GHz-1-5GB-GTX660-8GB-RAM-2TB-HDD-/261594464313?pt=AU_comp_dekstop&hash=item3ce83ec039
Because my current 5-6 year old PC is aging away and has already started to show worse signs such as a failing PSU and loud CPU fan I desperately needed a new PC and this one seemed pretty good for the price, I would very much like to know if I made a good choice or not.-
Well it looks as if simply upgrading to the 970 won't be easy, after looking up a lot of threads on the same model of computer I bought (the Alienware Andromeda X51) there's not a lot of space for a new card such as the 970, it can be freed up by moving the fan but there's still the matter of the power supply needing to be replaced for a more capable one.

I logged into youtube and when I opened the video manager link I noticed every single video of mine had 5-6 new dislikes each, quite a few of the videos were fairly new which had no ratings until the disliking happened which made it obvious, I looked through the video analysis thing and according to it all the dislikes were all issued at the same date by the same country which was UK.
I guess someone just didn't like any comments I may have made on other videos and trolled me with a mass disliking spree, I really don't understand why people even go through the bother just because of something they probably didn't like. -
I won some light wine a few days ago and because it was my first I pretty much enjoyed it, it was Brown Brothers Mascato white and light wine with 5% alcohol, today however I decided to try red wine which happens to be 10% alcohol and I pretty much got tipsy and then drunk from it unlike the first wine I had.
I can safely say now I enjoy wine and will try as often as I can to get more.
