    11th Hour Stauf Wad

Trilobites are extinct arthropods that form the class Trilobita. They appeared at the start of the Cambrian period and flourished throughout the lower Paleozoic era before beginning a drawn-out decline to extinction when, during the Late Devonian extinction, all trilobite orders, with the sole exception of Proetida, died out. The last of the trilobites disappeared in the mass extinction at the end of the Permian 250 million years ago (m.y.a.).

    CONGESTION CONTROL

Interesting map. Most of time I had fun (especially with the first Cyberdemon fight) but the second boss fight (I suppose another cyberdemon but happened to be a bronze golem boss) and it was FUCKING HARD TO KILL THIS ASSHOLE!!!!!!! I got killed once and second time got the revenge to beat him, heh. Next time please but a baron instead of another cyberdemon (I'm talking about yellow key room). Oh and played with AEOD 5.29.1 (Doomguy class). 4/5 -Doomer95

    The Ranger

for a first release, this is pretty good. there's not a lot of hexen weaponsets and even less char classes, so this covers both. it's still the same typical shotgun/pistol/rapid -fire weapons, though, and you can't change your skin gender or color. 4/5

    No Rockets For You

It was alright, the texturing and structure was a bit odd and the music annoying. Could have done with some monsters teleporting in as you hoovered up the keys once everything was dead. Watching the zombie's bodies bounce down the steep stairs is class, also, you have to wonder how the Mancubus managed to fit in the exit room :P 3/5

    Simply Phobos

Class, but I think that I overdosed E1 style mapsets. Main grip with these kind of maps is their low difficulty level - final fight here is a walk in the park. It's very linear, too - map literally guides you from one keycard to another. Treat for doom beginners, though. I'm gonna give it 4/5, because despite my views, it's very well done -- Brun Ohn

    Enjay's Marine Assault

Not in the worst-ever class, but still rotten.

    Spawn Redux V2.0

First-class hub. Classy use of GZDoom effects, pretty and coherent visuals, excellent gameplay. Not in any way hard, but I never considered that as a bad thing.

    Temple Teracculus V1.0

A quite good map, but there are no weapons for the Cleric and Mage classes.

    Zaero: Episode 1

I'm usually sceptical of these graphic-intensive wads; the gameplay is usually dire. But these levels are excellent. The maps are large and free-form but not impossible or confusing. The general grimy graphic style reminded me of bits of System Shock and Nintendo 64 Doom. I never listen to music when playing Doom. Lots of clever secrets that seem to involve shooting targets. Generally subtle new monsters, creative and subtle use of ZDoom features (slopes etc). Class.

    Level Uno Redux

This is from the chap who made "Hoover Dam", which is a classic. This is also good fun, although it's marred a little by having too much health (I felt guilty at leaving so much of it behind). There are some nice setpieces on a medium-large scale and this is top of the class circa 1997. The detailing is very simple but not too shabby today.

    Quest Of The Avatar

Not enough mana or health to even complete the level. Definitely not enough mana for the cleric and mage classes, since their weapons use the most. The level design is very squarish and very boring. The map doesn't seem to have a clear theme, either.

    Just Doom It! XE

I love it, Im playing this at a LAN Party during computer class tommorow. \o/

    Retrograde

Oldschool flava! All the necessary tricks and traps + balanced amount of ammo and health. I second that about superbness of recreating E1 atmosphere. Class -- Brun Ohn

    The Zenith Citadel

This one is attractive and fun, if slightly unbalanced as far as class goes (I think the Mage has a much easier time than the other classes, due mainly to the Sapphire Wand). It even has some optional secrets. There's not much strategy involved in the finale, though...just kill your foes quick, or your're dead. It's actually kind of easy to push the bosses off of the cliff. I even got all three with one disc on one occassion. --TDotW

    Hexen: Beyond Heretic DEMO

    Version

    165 downloads

This is a 4-level demo of the new action-adventure Hexen: Beyond Heretic, the sequel to the original Heretic first-person action-adventure. Besides the storyline, the major differences between Heretic and Hexen are numerous. * Three character classes: Fighter, Cleric and Mage. At the start of your adventure, you choose which class you want to play through the entire game of Hexen. In multiplayer mode, you can choose which character you want to use to either inflict punishment (Deathmatch) or to help your comrades through the adventure (Cooperative). The Fighter's weapons are mostly close-combat weapons, but he does the most damage with his attacks. The Cleric has two close-combat weapons and two long-range weapons since he is a hybrid of the Fighter and Mage classes. The Mage has four long-range magical attacks. This is the best character for you if you are better at attacking from a distance. * No sequential level-to-level game progression. For instance, the second level (Seven Portals) contain the gateways to the other three levels in the first "hub" of the game. You will revisit Seven Portals many times before you complete Hexen's first hub area. When you are on one level, you can pull a switch and open doors or raise stairs on a different level to unlock the continuation of your quest. * Rich audio environment. Hexen has a dark, brooding background soundtrack to create a subtly disquieting mood while you listen to animals scrabbling around on rocks, birds screeching or the ambient soundscape of a swamp. All this combined with the enemy's audio cues create a rich aural experience while you journey through the dark, dangerous world of Hexen. * Large range of artifacts. Many of Heretic's artifacts are here along with many new ones that prove to be quite interesting in a Deathmatch situation! Sure, Heretic was great fun with the Morph Ovum, but have you ever seen a flying pig? You Will. And we will be the ones to bring it to you with the Porkelator! * Awesome visual effects. Slog your way through a real swamp, complete with a haze of white fog and swamp gas clouds cruising over the ooze. Twin parallaxing cloud sky backdrops. A crowd of bats blasting into your face as you prepare to descend into a network of caves. These and many other effects will surprise and awe you with their brilliance. This demo is multiplayer capable. Use the DM program to initiate a multiplayer game. Please read DM.DOC for details. Enjoy the demo. Then rush out and get the game when it hits the stores! You won't be sorry. But your friends will be when they think they can take you on in a Deathmatch and they find a Maulotaur you just summoned bashing their brains into the dirt with you laughing at them behind its back.

    Alando Guns X

Why when I shoot into imp's crotch with Sniper Rifle, I shoot his head off? O_o Anyways, there are too many classes. Going over 5 is a bad thing already. Additionally, if this had more consistent sprites, it'd be really good :)

    Visions of Eternity

Played @ UV. Looks like a DooM 1 remake, and I'll rate it as such. Has some minor flaws, f.e. some secrets are hidden too well, and one needs mouse aim which isn't in DooM 1. Having said that: excellent map layout, excellent architecture, excellent gameplay. Overall: the best nostalgic DooM 1 remake I've played in years, so 5/5 and in its class a CacoAward candidate. IOW: if you like this, a must-play! Compliments to TM.

School Dethtag!! Elementary school has never been soo exciting! This wad can only be used as described in the RULES.TXT. I have tried to put many features in the wad to give you the feel of being a young elementary kid again, like the heights of things, and even the cheap tile textured walls provide youthfulness. You'll even like the music..hehe step into the class room and watch your teacher dangle above her desk before your very eyes.. oh man, this is torcher just writing this.. I WANT TO DETHTAG NOW!!!

    ALLEYS.WAD (v1.1)

    Version

    26 downloads

My very first DOOM2 .WAD (-ish). The end of the Callisto campaign (see below) should have meant well-earnt retirement for you, marine. Now that the Callisto anomaly has been brought back to earth, someone else can mop up the remains..after all, we now have the measure of the monsters, and are starting to clear them out of most of earth. But there is a problem...one of the spooks at the military academy came up to you in the camp laboratory last night with a bunch of old books and things in a time-stasis case. He said there were quite a few of them in a military store in deepest Iowa (thats right, the one where the Ark of the Covenant is stored) - and told you that this was a CLASS 1 secret. Even the president was never told about these, and up until now, no-one has known how to interpret them. They are in a variety of hands, some ancient (one even seems to be a papyrus scroll with hieroglyphics, although the spook will only mutter darkly about plagues and darknesses when you ask about it) and some more modern. The upshot of it is that all describe foul beings that have haunted some troubled spots of earth. The spook produces a marbled edged ledger, its pages spotted with blood, and edges burnt. You read the copperplate with a sinking feeling.. "The ledger of William Jago, butcher, at the sign of the Red Deaths Head, Solomons End, Whitechapel, London, in the year 1858...I know the things were out in the alleyways in Whitechapel again last night..I know it is not a dream, and I saw the two watch men all burnt up by the fire from the evil brown things hands..all the people hid behind their doorways, and even the night-walkers fled..there was a great beast of some kind that made a blasphemous noise in which I could hear no words spoken..noises as of engines came from the site where the new buildings are to be made by Cut-Throat Alley..I heard terrible deep laughter, vile laughter..some arch-fiend is hiding in the alleyways, and I fear for my soul.." "All we know, Blazkowicz, is that Jago and his shop and all the area around it were destroyed in a huge fire, and they never recovered any bodies" says the spook "but theres a problem... the British government psychics say that the bastards have come back twice..once during the 1880s and again during the first world war... at least one of the Jack the Ripper sightings was of a brown thing the size of a man with thorns growing from its legs and arms, and fire around it..they put the man who reported it in Bedlam, but we think we know the truth now...and they say that the problem may emerge again..soon" The spook tells you about the experiments with the Callisto anomaly, and the attempts to use it to see the heart of Victorian London. "Unfortunately, we lost a few men attempting to get through, Blazkowicz...keep an eye out for them, some may be rescuable..We think that most of the ammunition and stores we sent through has reached the target area, but we aren't sure.. we are not even sure if we can bring you home.. keep a sharp eye for anything that looks like a switch..if the creatures are there, it'll be heavily guarded." "Some of our people have a theory that the Callisto anomaly will transport you to the nearest brood of the hellspawn..the nearest to here is London 1858, but there may not be a way straight back. There's another..well, that can wait! It looks like your tour of duty, marine..if you don't make it straight back, read the update on your belt computer - it's updated automatically, and it should give you some idea of what you're up against..good luck!" You strap on your military revolver, walk up to the Anomaly Lab. "OK, lets rock.." and you step into the machine. Night settles... ================================================================

    Damien's DOOM [The Deathmatch Zone]

    Version

    2 downloads

This level is my first try as a Deathmatch level. Damien wrote a map for me during the Math class, and the following Monday we first tried it in a 4-player network play. Now we are proud to bring you the final version, featuring: South-East * The dark MAZE: dodge spectres, hide in the secret rooms and bring back the Rocket-Launcher. North * A long CORRIDOR that you'll have to slalom in, if you want to reach the PlasmaGun. North-West * The ARENA, with the WHEEL OF DEATH, where you'll have your filthiest frags, trust me! East * The WAREHOUSE, also known as shotgun-land. West * The CONTROL CENTRE: one of the switches raises the arena, bringing you surprised targets. If they take the teleport, use the one-way door.THEY CAN'T ESCAPE! Watch your backs, they can follow you. West * The PIT: Visit the Hell Knight and grab the Chaingun. 'Careful, danger comes from everywhere. South * The COURTYARD: use the 2nd switch near the C.C. to access the BFG9000, then hide behind trees! (Be careful not to Exit the level)

    Hexen Pig Arena

    Version

    10 downloads

An arena with 4 sections, 1 per class and 1 containing a few goodies and a few badies. This wad only works with the Registered Version of Hexen. If you wonder why this is called the Pig Arena, then play for an hour and then watch the floor you will understand.

    Crimson Canyon

OK I just finished this wad and the last 5 levels weren't that hard, I died about 5 times more in MAP09 (damn that fight with all those monsters teleporting and the cyber-class monster, as well as final room with HellKnight (?) class-monsters). The maps were pretty good, nothing to complain, later maps also became easier because health and monster placement was about okay and also got chainsaw! :D I played with AEOD 6.02. I give this wad 4/5! -Doomer95

    Dark Tartarus: Dead Tonight

Meh. Visually stunning (if very boxy), but unbalanced gameplay. Getting slaughter maps right is an art, and I don't see much of that here. Too much focus on novel monsters, too; gimmicky maps, and poor ammo balance (sometimes too little, sometimes too much). Not sure if custom classes were playtested much in these maps. 2.5/5 for good looks and all that. - ZZ

    Ghouls vs Humans

^Fully agreed, in 2009-2010 was very popular and enjoyable, now with all those new classes and other shit added by Ivan and others, isn't fun anymore. Sorry Cutmanmike! 2/5 -Doomer95
